Reasons to Use Coconut Oil in Your Beauty Routine

While it may still surprise most, some people are beginning to realize that aside from kitchen counters, coconut oil definitely deserves a spot in bathroom shelves and bedroom vanities as well. You’ve probably heard of all the health benefits coconut oil can do for your body—improves digestion, fights infection and increases metabolism, just to name a few—but exactly what about coconut oil makes it just as beneficial for your skin and hair?

“Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that help prevent aging and damage to our skin and hair. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties that help keep skin healthy and fight skin allergies and yeast infections that may be responsible for rashes, dermatitis and thinning hair,” says New York-based beauty expert and plastic surgeon Dr. Monica Tadros.

Coconut oil is the most abundant source of lauric acid, a fatty acid known for its antimicrobial, moisturizing, and hormone-balancing properties. Aside from its anti-aging and skin-healing abilities, it also stimulates the production of collagen, and its vitamin E content protects the skin from sun damage. Dr. Tadros also adds that because of its moisturizing effect, dry and combination skin types would greatly benefit from its use. “This is because its hydrating moisture directly treats dry skin and indirectly suppresses overactive oil-producing glands.” However, if you have oily skin, Dr. Tadros recommends using coconut oil as a mask application and washing off with a gentle cleanser.

When it comes to hair, using coconut oil helps maintain moisture and prevent protein loss from combing damage. That’s great news if you’ve been plagued by dry, itchy scalp, dandruff, hair loss and even frizz. All that fatty acids goodness also make it perfect for nourishing chapped lips, dry cuticles and brittle nails.

So even with treatment, genital warts may come back in the future. This depends on how well your immune system is functioning, the strain of HPV you have, and the amount of virus you have (viral load).

Some strains are high risk and associated with later formation of squamous cell carcinoma (cancer), and you may not even know if you have a high-risk HPV strain until precancerous or cancerous lesions form.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock-or maybe out of wi-fi range-you no doubt know that coconut oil is good for (apparently) everything, but putting this knowledge to practical use requires a little more in-depth information than that one positive statement.

What makes this trendy product so versatile is its ability to be used internally and externally, so while eating coconut oil has proven medicinal benefits, this product is also a valuable addition to your first aid kit, beauty routine and medicine cabinet.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 25) –

Coconut oil, whose health benefits have been proven in the past, will be tested for use as a potential treatment for the novel coronavirus infection.

“That [VCO] is being looked into,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III told CNN Philippines’ Newsroom on Tuesday.

“We have heard very good studies with regard to its ability to neutralize the viruses, but for the COVID- 19, it is not clear,” the top health official added.

Duque also said the VCO would not be used to treat the viral infection caused by the new strain of coronavirus here in the country until the World Health Organization confirmed its antiviral effects.

He made the reaction following Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles' announcement Monday that a former academician from one of the country’s top universities proposed to test coconut oil as COVID-19 treatment amid the absence of a specific treatment.

In a research proposal published on January 31, Ateneo de Manila University Professor Emeritus Fabian Antonio Dayrit and Dr. Mary Newport of Spring Hill Neonatolody in Florida, United States proposed to conduct a clinical study on patients infected with the COVID-19 involving VCO, saying “this treatment is affordable and virtually risk-free, and the potential benefits are enormous.” Nograles said the National University of Singapore has agreed to test VCO as a prophylactic against the COVID-19.

Current evidence suggests coconut oil and its derivatives are safe and effective antiviral compounds in both humans and animals, the researchers noted.

“Several in vitro, animal, and human studies support the potential of coconut oil, lauric acid and its derivatives as effective and safe agents against a virus like nCoV-2019 [COVID-19],” they said...

I fought COVID-19 with Vitamin C, black seed oil mixed with honey –Gov Makinde

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has revealed how he fought and survived COVID-19 infection while his quarantine lasted.

The governor, who has now tested negative to the virus, spoke on the 105.9 FM on Monday via a telephone interview.

The interviewer, Mayor Isaac Brown, who said he also spoke with the governor when he was under the quarantine, recalled that Makinde had told him that he ingested plenty Vitamin C, and ate lots and lots of carrots, among others in his fight against the coronavirus.

The governor had also told the journalist that his infrared thermometer had been his best friend during his quarantine period, using it to gauge his body temperature at regular intervals.

The reporter then asked, “Okay, can we know your latest temperature?” to which the governor responded, “Thermometer reads out temperature as 36.4 degrees. You can hear that; my body temperature is 36.4 degrees. So, I still have the thermometer.”

The governor then launched into the various steps he took in getting well.

“There has been all sorts… My very good friend and brother, Dr. Muyideen Olatunji, the one in charge of the Primary Healthcare for Oyo State, came to me and said, look, I am going to send to you this black seed oil, it boosts immunity.

“So, I mix it with honey and took one teaspoon in the morning and one in the evening.

“So, there are local solutions to boost immunity.

“So, our people should not fret. They shouldn’t fret.

“Just as I have been able to get the virus out of my system, so will it be for majority of our people.

Many of us love a good cup of tea in the morning.

Tea has been proven to have many health benefits.

Tea contains a high amount of flavonols and flavonoids, antioxidants and L-theanine with is a powerful antioxidant and adaptogen. Tea has the ability to increase neural activity which induces focus as well as offset the effects of stress. It simultaneously calms and focuses you. *Coconut Oil For Face*

Many cleansers on the market today are made with harsh chemicals that strip the skin of its natural oils, which often leads to skin issues such as acne and clogged pores. Coconut oil is composed primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in lauric acid. It also contains vitamin E and healthy fats, which help to make skin smooth.

Coconut oil is also known for its anti-aging properties. Coconut oil has anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A, which help to slow down the aging process and may help to reduce the damage from free radicals and the sun.

*Coconut Oil For Body*

Not only is coconut oil used as a moisturizer for your face, it is also an amazing moisturizer for your body. Coconut oil is known for its anti-oxidant properties and as such it has been used to treat various skin ailments such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Coconut oil can help to restore the skin’s natural PH levels thus leaving it silky and smooth.

*Coconut Oil For Hair*

The benefits of coconut oil aren’t just for the skin. Your hair can also benefit from this amazing natural oil. It has been known as a savior for dry, parched hair for years. Coconut oil can penetrate inside the hair shaft better than other oils because of its fatty acid structure and low molecular weight. Regular use of coconut oil on the hair not only nourishes your dry strands but also strengthens and protects, thus reducing protein loss and damage due to styling and coloring.

*Coconut Oil For Bath*

Coconut oil doesn’t have to be applied directly to the skin in order to fully reap its benefits. It can also be used as part of your regular bath time routine. Adding coconut oil to your bath water will help to moisturize your skin from head to toe. The result after your bath is skin that is soft, supple and revitalized.

*Coconut Oil For Relaxation*

Coconut oil is also known for its relaxation benefits, especially in the form of massage. It acts as an effective moisturizer while the exotic coconut scent relaxes your senses. Because the skin easily absorbs coconut oil, it is a great choice as massage oil. A massage with coconut oil can also help to soothe and relax tight muscles in the body.

The recent rise in popularity of coconut oil is mainly due to the fact that it is a natural beauty product. Many women are moving away from chemical laden products and turning to natural ingredients for a more natural skincare routine.

Black pepper is said to prevent cancer when it is mixed with turmeric. This can be consumed in the form of milk by mixing turmeric and black pepper. This drink is usually given to individuals suffering from severe cold. It is said to consist of antioxidants, vitamin A and carotenoids that help in curing cancer and other deadly diseases. Also, this must be added to most of your daily diet as it is the best way you can stay fit naturally.

2. Good for Digestion:
Black pepper helps in good digestion and when it is consumed raw, hydrochloric acid is released by the stomach and helps in breaking down the proteins. Hydrochloric acid helps in cleaning your intestines and barricading you from other gastrointestinal diseases. So don’t forget to add a pinch of black pepper to all of your food.

3. Prevents Constipation:
If you have less than three stools a week, then you may be suffering from constipation. However, this problem can be solved by adding some pepper to your food daily. Sometimes when you may be suffering from constipation, you may end up straining to pass stools or sometimes you may not feel empty even after passing stools.

Thus, black pepper curbs colon cancer, constipation, diarrhoea and other types of bacterial types of diseases if consumed daily. Excessive consumption can be harmful to you, so make sure you just add a pinch of it to your daily food.

4. Treats Skin Problems:
The ‘King of Spices’ is said to prevent skin pigmentation (Vitiligo). This condition makes your skin appear white and this is also called white patches. Though there are many medicines available in the market to restore your skin colour, black pepper protects your skin from any sort of skin pigmentation and helps maintain the original colour of your skin. Wrinkles and skin problems are curbed if you consume black pepper from a very young age. It also prevents premature ageing and dark spots too.

Consuming this spice in the raw or cooked form is good enough for your daily diet that will benefit your body and most importantly rejuvenate your skin. 5. Good for Your Hair:
In order to treat dandruff, black pepper is said to be good. All you need to do is to add some crushed black pepper with some curd and add it to your scalp and let it dry for a minimum of 30 minutes. Also, make sure that you do not use excess black pepper as this can result in the burning of your scalp. Make sure that you do not use shampoo for the next 24 hours after applying black pepper to your hair as this may cause side effects. You can also add lime to the crushed black pepper and apply it to your scalp and then wash it after 30 minutes. This will make your hair shiny and smooth.

6. Aids in Weight Loss:

During winter, adding a little bit of pepper to all your dishes can help you stay healthy and prevent yourself from different diseases. Black pepper mixed with some honey can also help you prevent chest congestion. 9. Reduces Joint Pain:
If you are suffering from joint pain arthritis, you don’t have to be worried because pepper has medical properties that can help you solve this problem. It also helps in preventing gout. It is also used for people suffering from spinal and joint pain. Today, black pepper is used in many cuisines as a global spice. Black pepper’s most powerful impact is when a person with a cold and cough consumes it.

10. Detoxifies Your Body:
This spice helps you sweat and urinate a lot and by this, you discharge all toxins from your body. Sweating and constantly urinating is a good sign that your body is functioning well. Also, you need to think about how you need to burn fat physically, rather than only consuming black pepper. Some people believe that black pepper can be only consumed and it will help them lose weight. But you may be wrong if you only concentrate on consuming it rather than following some simple exercises such as walking and jogging. Always keep in mind that if you want to lose weight, the result lies in following a healthy diet and exercising at the same time. If you follow this, you will witness the results in a few weeks.

11. Anti-inflammatory properties
For many chronic or long-term conditions such as cancer, heart conditions, diabetes, asthma and so on, inflammation is a key underlying issue. Many studies have suggested that the active compound piperine in black pepper fights off inflammation effectively.

14. Might be Effective Against Cholesterol
Higher cholesterol levels are a warning sign for a possible heart attack. Regular consumption of black pepper has shown effective results in reducing cholesterol levels due to the presence of the compound piperine. Further, piperine can also enhance the absorption capacity of dietary supplements. For example, black pepper can increase up to 2,000% of the absorption of the compound curcumin in turmeric which also has potent health properties such as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.
