Ondo State government yesterday sealed off 10 event centres in Akure, Ondo State capital for evading tax. The director in charge of hotel registration and classifications in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Kehinde Olasoji who led the team of enforcement exercise emphasised that tax evasion is a criminal offence. Areas visited by the team are Ijapo Estate and Oke Aro in Akure where ten centres were eventually sealed off. The director said the state would not tolerate tax evasion, stressing that the numerous projects being carried out by the government could only be sustained and improved upon if taxes are paid as and when due.
