TODAY AT GOVERNORSHIP TRIBUNAL: A SUMMARY



The counsel to Dapo Abiodun Prof. Osipitan clearly admitted that there were irregularities in its client election as submitted/ petitioned by Hon. Adekunle Akinlade counsel with the results from the contentious 34 units. This amounted to 2,394. Fantastic

2. Dapo Abiodun counsel want these figures removed from its client figures which will still give Abiodun a figure of 238,389 to Akinkade 225,434.

3.Though am not a lawyer but with my knowledge of the 2015 amended electoral law, there is a big pit in front of Dapo Abiodun and a cleared road for Akinkade. Why the pit and the cleared road?

4. The electoral law is very clear. Where there are over voting , the entire votes from that unit is cancelled ( and not deducted from the real votes as canvassed by Dapo Abiodun counsel).

5. Therefore, if the spirit and letter of the electoral law is followed, we may have this scenario: Abiodun,-119,849 and Akinkade- 163,198.
6. The above is arrived at if the votes from the contentious units are cancelled. 121,821 and 58,955 votes would have been removed from the declared votes of Abiodun and Akinlade respectively.

7. Curious enough, is the earlier submission of Dapo Abiodun counsel asking the Tribunal to remove 25,302 from its client figures and also remove 15,904 from Akinlade's votes across the 20 LGAs. The counsel believed this will turn the figures to be: APC:216,302 and APM: 206,248.
8. From paragraph 7 above, Dapo Abiodun APC affirmed that it didn't win the election by 19,000+ but just less than 10,000.
8. It is obvious that where justice is allowed to reign AbdulKabir Akinlade may succeed in retrieving his mandate from Dapo Abiodun.
