Abuja explosions: Suspect sues SSS, claims N500m

One of the suspects arraigned on Oct. 8 in connection with the Golden Jubilee bombings, Edmond Ebiware, on Friday dragged the Director-General of the State Security Services before an Abuja High Court, claiming N500m damages.

The claim was in respect of “the unlawful arrest, detention, humiliation and psychological trauma” he suffered in the hands of the agency’s officials.

The suit was filed by his lawyer, Ugochukwu Ezekiel, through a motion on notice brought pursuant to Order II Rule 2 of Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules 2009, Sections 35, 36, 41 and 46 of the 1999 Constitution and inherent jurisdiction of the court.

According to a First Information Report before the magistrate’s court, Ebiware was charged with Raphael Damfebo and Ernest Wosu in connection with the bombings.
