After the change of name of "The Nigeria Prisons Service" to "Nigerian Correctional Service", the federal government has however charged the staffs and officers to maintain the main objective of the service which is to ensure that those that commited any crime are been adequately recorrected in other to ensure a safe and secure environment for Nigerians.

During a visit to the correctional service in Abuja by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Interior, duly representing the new Minister of Interior, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola read the statement written by the Minister to the Controller-General, Nigeria Correctional Service, Ja’Afaru Ahmed, and his officers.

He noted that the government would support the service to a large extent those who are coming under their correctional service care from going back to crime. He also said that the minister urges them to ensure that they comply to the Security, Economy and Transparency (SET) agenda of the Buhari's administration in order to ensure the security of Nigerians is assured.

Do you think the Service would perform better than they used to in the past now due to some facelift been made by the government to the service buildings?
