We hereby require applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions due to expansion of business as News Writers and as News Editor. Job Title: News Writers

Location: Lagos state

Reports to: Editor/Executive Assistant

The Role:

This job is considered to be hands on writing for brands and products from all nooks & cranny of people oriented business. You are required to be very astute, IT compliant, determined to make waves, have anger to stand out and burning passion for unique articles.

Responsibilities

• Develop news stories as per information generated by wire service, assignment desk, news from consumer angle and press releases in field and archives.
• Must be ready to perform research and write unbiased and factual news stories, re-write, send to editor for proper proofread/edit and publish.
• Perform research on brand from source and develop stories that will enhance or criticize brands, for smooth & easy business development in Nigeria business sphere.
• Develop and write news stories that address interest of customers.
• Give periodic & accurate advice to the management on ways to improve the Brand reviews and writing as at when needed.
• Manage the process of online & offline news gathering, editing and marketing
• Proofread all news reviews and be sure it meets standard before publishing online
• Coordinates editorial & filed reporting periodic meetings

2. News Editor
Slot: 1
Location: Lagos

Reports to: Operation Manager/Executive Assistant

Responsibilities

• Must be able to give periodic & accurate advice to the management on ways to improve the Brand reviews and writing as at when needed.
• Must have adequate experience in feature news editing & have worked as sub-editor in a newspaper company.
• Design and edit news and coordinates appropriate stories
• Acts as head of news desk, in the absence of the Editor-in-chief
• Perform research on brand from source and develop stories that will enhance or criticize brands, for smooth & easy business development in Nigeria business sphere.
• Perform copy editing of scripts for accuracy, factual content, correct language and publication



Required Education Level & Personal skills:

• Must be able to communicate to both management and staff clearly and informatively. • Must have excellent
written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer operations and programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, with graphics package.
• Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills and methods are essential.
• Ability to work independently and creatively.
• Functional experience of 1-2 years as news writer is a minimum requirement
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as editor or sub-editor, in Nigeria or Abroad for news editor

• Ability to independently handle all company gadgets.
• Very Intelligent, must be ready for feedback (an A-Level Person)
• B.Sc. or HND Holder in Mass Communication, Journalism, English/Linguistics etc, (A passion for writing is a key factor)
