They have come again. Nigeria is not well structured for this yet. This aspect needs reserach, research and more research which we all know is not done in our country. If this is done, the practice of medicine in Nigeria would be bastardized to an irredeemable state.
We have not even started exploring and making breakthrough in pharmaceutical drugs and medical practices that are perpetually hindered by myriads of challenges ranging from lack of proper funding by the govt, strikes by workers ,massive corruption and the list is endless. Yet, they are talking abt Bsc in trado medicine. It could be likened to saying Nigeria should go into Nuclear energy to generate electricity as was suggested some years ago despite knowing the consequences should things go wrong .we are yet to get our grasp on safer and more attainable way of electricity generation they were bringing up Nuclear energy.
Let's move at our own pace. Even the proposed Bsc trado medical never start o yet we see and hear Dr dis and dat advertising using public address systems on how they can cure all diseases with same drug while going to work.
People just talk without putting / consedring some other factors in place. It can also be likened to saying let's start using electric cars, robots as police personel, electric trains etc...@ dis stage of our development
We are gradually shifting towards total Apocalypse in the health sector. They should also create degrees for road side mechanics and call them engineers.
After approving Bsc for them now, they will come again in some few years time and say " oh ! Let's make it masters and PhD" ...
No be naija we dey

More like a pure Pharmacognosy

Pharmacognosy is too sophisticated for a developing state like ours , thats why few institutions offers it here because of the cost of actual research and other related stuffs. Tradomedicine/Herbal medicine will help us utilize our local technique and improve all this herbs medicine sellers efficacy .

This might also solve the problem of dosage in Herbs and repackage and drug - drug interaction.

Overdose of herbal medicine damages kidney, liver and other internal organs. It kills within two weeks

I think we need to be guided. Have you taken time to look at the dangers and side effects of the pharmaceuticals drugs such as panadaol and cipro. And can you kindly give us one herbal medicine that will damage kidney,!iver and other internal organs. We grew up meeting our grand parents in 70s and 80s, I can boldly tell you that none of them died of organ damages. Anything you abuse definitely there will be repercussions.

I believe it is time we go back to nature, nature have solutions to all our health challenges don't forget this is what the creator gave us. Nature is wholistic and herbal medicine is equally wholistic.

What we call western medicine is western medicine, it means it comes from the west. Let us Alps look at Nigeria medicine, take you move across Nigeria you will see a lot of herbal solutions that the different tribes use. There is nothing wrong if the universities and polytechnics regulatory bodies such as nuc and nbte will harmonize and turn it into a course after all this is our strength.
Many of us in this forum will agree that when it comes to bone bending, we have our local people that are far that the best western doctors but is their any of tertiary institutions offering that. NO.

Not bad but different herbal medicine will be offered by universities according to their 'tribe'
Not necessarily. You can have a synthesized course called Alternative Medicine. I'd even advocated the inclusion of some Asian stuff, especially Ayurveda. Ofr course, each department can include some things that are specific to local tribes in the content but everything would have to be approved by a central regulatory body to avoid the dissemination of harmful practices.

The call is good but can they scientifically prove it. How can adult take the Same quantity of herbal medication with a child. So this is where the problem lies
Many herbal medicine practitioners have since gone beyond the no-dose era. Stop buying on the streets. There's even herbal medicine now being sold on Amazon, complete with dose and everything.
