Well, I actually think it's not bad, it's responsive with a simple design
But do you think people will just leave nairaland or gist -mania for your forum?

I think you should deal with two or three categories for now e. g politics, investment, celebrities etc and as your site gains ground, you begin to add more categories

Fb advert, nairaland and google ads can help make your site again traffic.

Also, you might want to hire writers to write some quality articles (or do it yourself) in your categories to convert those who click your ads

collecting emails too will help.

Personally, I feel if you do this for a year or two, your site will definitely gain ground.

Using a reliable host too is crucial, cos if your site is down, a new visitor may never return

A CDN like cloudflare can help increase your speed too( you can use their free plan for now)

Not all Nigerian hosts are bad. It depends on which one u signed up for.

Use a Content delivery network (CDN)
I recommend Cloudflare.

Just visit their website and sign up for a free account; you can upgrade when your website starts receiving high traffic.

Also, use a caching plugin to further optimize your website speed

Switching to a foreign hosting company doesn't make your website load faster. Especially if you are using a shared hosting.

Do the above, I'm sure you will see improvements

If your Nigerian host has good uptime, no need to switch.

You can always hire someone to develop the site for you. If you're low on budget, try to get partnerships or work till you have enough cash to fund your project.
