Xenophobia: Zambia Cancels International Friendly Game With S’Africa


Following the xenophobic attack, Zambia Football Association (ZFA) has cancelled the international friendly game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa at Heroes Stadium on Saturday, Igbere TV has learnt.

Igbere TV reports that the cancellation came on the heels of the recent xenophobic attack going on in the country.

The national team feared that the game could lead to further diplomatic attacks if the game is allowed to be played.

Football, which is seen as a uniting factor that not only links but strengthens and mend relationships, will not be able to do what it is known for globally.

Andrew Kamanga, president of FAZ confirmed the cancellation on Robert Marawa’s Sport Worldworld.

“The game is off, and we communicated that to SAFA and they understood. We have been talking to try and monitor the situation,” Kamanga said on the show.

I doubt if some guys truly and really understand why the game was called off. would the game have been called off if the game was in another part of Africa? they are obviously avoiding playing the match because of their safety

Something fishy about these attacks.
My gut instincts is that it is white nations sponsored media propaganda, damage Nigeria and maybe SA economically and otherwise in the aftermath of signing Africa free trade zone agreement.
Lemme keep observing.

Dstv, MTN are more or less like Pan African Business, in which southafrican only hold like 20 to 30% of it shares the rest are own by Nigerian who use these company. If you watch closely why is big brother africa suddenly turn to bigbro Niaja, check each shoprite you will find out there is alot of Nigerian brand now parading as foreign goods. What I think we need to do as a country is to buy up there shares in Nigeria and send then back we dont need to destroy what we are trying to build

You remember In 2012 South Africa deported 125 Nigerians over allegations that they were "bringing yellow fever to SA". The Nigerian government immediately deported 80 South Africans back to SA and blocked off entry for other South Africans trying to get into Nigeria, telling them that South Africa has a HIV problem and Nigeria could not afford to have them over here.

In less than a week the South African government apologised to Nigeria over the incident. But they say Jonathan was weak and Buhari is strong right? #MumuDeySmell.

Nigerians after watching the videos of how Nigerians were being killed and properties destroyed over the weekend they patiently waited for response from the almighty fedral government only for them to be told come October the president will meet with south african president and when Nigerians said no the government said Thursday and later also told Nigerians that the ambassador of south africa has been summoned yet no press release from the president except rubbish that the so called presidential aids were dishing out that let to this senseless looting by Nigerians.

If Government had responded on time and a press release by the the president would have calmed Nigerians knowing that the president has spoken and the government is on top of the situation.
