Following the latest xenophobic attack in South Africa, some countries have withdrawn from the World Economic Summit billed to hold this year in Capetown, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had previously reported that properties worth millions of naira belonging to foreign nationals, especially Nigerians, were set ablaze with many others looted by South Africans.

President of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Comrade Adetola Olubajo, said the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Olubajo said in a statement that the mob “looted several shops owned by foreign nationals”, adding that “the police later dispersed the mob and made some arrest.”

The three countries to have since withdrawn from the summit holding in South Africa, include Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Malawi, findings by Igbere TV revealed Tuesday night.
