Samari Zakari Declared Winner Of Young Democratic Party Gov’ship Primary In Kogi by Honbright(m): 8:41pm On Sep 04, 2019
The primary election, which was conducted at Cliff hotel Lokoja on Wednesday, Sept. 4, had in attendance the representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from the state headquarters, and the Representatives of the National Secretariat of the party, report reveal to VAM.


The delegates who were drawn from the three Senatorial District in the state adopted a consensus model using voice votes which favoured Engr. Samari Muhammed Zakari who was returned as the winner having survived the party screening.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Zakari assured the delegates and the entire members of the party that he will run a purposeful and citizenship driven government.


He added that the ‘Light Has Come’ slogan of the party will come to play in the November governorship election as he is ready to take Kogi state to the next level.


He pledged to implement the manifesto of YDP to lift the people from the shackles of poverty and underdevelopment, VAM has learnt.


Engr Samari, reminded Kogi electorates that only the almighty God gives power to whoever he wishes to, and that the level of maturity, organization and non-violent democratic process witnessed during the primary election is one of the essential elements in the electoral circle in any democracy.


According to the governorship hopeful, the exercise of a collective will over the aspirations of many resulted in his emergence as the flagbearer of the Young Democratic Party for the Kogi State November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election.


Engr. Zakari reiterated once again that Kogi State is in dire need of good leadership and good governance and it has become imperative for the good people of Kogi State to collectively work together to achieve one main goal of taking Kogi State back from the current state for an improved situation.


The YDP Candidate also referenced that, due to the daunting challenge of leadership failure and tragic consequences of underdevelopment in Kogi State, his aspiration to become the next executive governor is to initiate a robust leadership, a sustainable policy thrust and institutional principles that will guarantee a total re-engineering of a purpose-driven governance and sustainable development in Kogi State.


He commended the delegates, state executives, stakeholders and the National Working Committee of his party, the Young Democratic Party for the hard work to keep the party afloat and remaining steadfast to ensure that the party is not hijacked by unscrupulous individuals who are only out for their personal gains.


The state chairman of the party, Comr. Adam Isah Ojenya tasked members to take back the state by working in an agreement to making the party the pride of the state.

He stated that the party will do everything humanly possible to occupy the Lord Lugard House after winning the November 16, 2019 election.
