Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has re-stated his administration's commitment towards ensuring that Lagos is crime-free.

He made this known at the commissioning of 125 patrol vehicles and 35 patrol motorcycles for the use of security operatives in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the model thought-out 13 years ago, with the support of the Lagos State House of Assembly to create the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has paid off so-good that the Federal government wants to replicate.

According to him, the idea of creating a security trust fund has worked well for the State, noting that donation of the vehicles and motorcycles can only help rejuvenate his administration's plan at ensuring maximum security for the people of Lagos.

The Governor said: "This young administration is just 99 days old; security and good governance happens to be the sixth pillar of our 'THEMES' policy agenda and we have attempted modestly to ensure that we engage each and every of those pillars

"What we are doing today is a demonstration of our commitment to good governance by ensuring that the dividends of democracy are not just felt but are also things that people can feel, see and we can act on"

Promising that security of lives and property is core to his government, the Governor stated his administration's resolve to support all outfits responsible for safety.

The Governor, while reacting to the recent reprisal attack against xenophobia in Lagos, warned residents to shun criminality and lawlessness, saying “that no one should be found on the other side of the law”.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the Federal Government was already handling the xenophobic matter diplomatically. He urged Lagosians to remain peaceful and orderly at all times.

"Security of lives and property is not only critical to us it is something that we will not turn deaf ears to.

How many states use IVM? Is IVM serious about marketing? When was the last time you see their ads? How many of their showrooms are across the 36 states in Nigeria? Do they have service centers etc etc? While we try to encourage ourselves, let's not be economical with the truth.

Lagos roads are getting dilapidated especially the mainland. I urge BSO to declare a state of emergency on roads in Lagos.

However, I wonder if these cars and bikes also come with much needed technology to fight crime.

For instance, is there equipment needed to verify a drivers license? Thus identifying a driver?

Any radios for central communication and deployment, of will they rely on cell phones?

Good job sha at the end of the day, but we also need to improve tech-wise to aid in enforcing law and order.

Kudos Sanwo, but why buy Chinese truck.
Chinese pickup trucks are not durable and generally substandard with low life span although cheaper to buy.
With lack of maintenance culture by govt only durable trucks like the one below should be purchased.

Innoson can also be considered because of access to original spareparts.

With the rate which Governors commission Patrol vehicles every Policeman should be having one patrol vehicle to himself.
But the reality is that after 6 months you will find these vehicles behind the police station with its legs on top of big stone as the tires have packed up and they wont replace with new ones. The engines would be smoking because they will service it with condemned oil or oil seized from roadside hawkers who sell cheap oil to Keke riders

Governor Oyetola in Osun State has spent up to 9 months still nothing new has been coming up...

The small size Sedan that looks like KIA Picanto goes for ₦7million, but not as rugged as a used Toyota Corolla 2008 model that you can get for ₦2.5million
