The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, has nullified the election of Dr Orji Kalu as Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the Tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run into the Abia North zone, within a period of 90 days.

This comes on Monday, following the petition by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mao Ohuabunwa, challenging the declaration of Kalu as winner of the election.

Orji-Kalu, a two-time Governor of Abia State, was elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 23, 2019 general election, reports Igbere TV.
