Boris Johnson has suffered another humiliating Commons defeat after his second bid for a snap general election was rejected by MPs.

The Prime Minister said he wanted to head to the polls next month to break the political deadlock, as he accused opposition parties of making “outrageous excuses” to delay.

But Labour and other opposition MPs refused to back the bid – which needed a two-thirds majority in the Commons – while the risk of a no-deal remained.

MPs voted 293 to 46, short of the 434 needed – marking the new PM’s sixth Commons defeat.

The prorogation, passed in the early hours of Tuesday, makes a general election extremely unlikely until at least mid-November.

If our National Assembly were as devoted as UK MP'S, i can assured us Nigeria will be a better place.
Check how they were looking at the PM eye ball to eye ball and tell him the truth especially the Labour opposition leader. Let me not talk abt the speaker he was good.
But one thing i have seen that is common among legislators anywhere is their booing and making noise when the speaker is not in their favour.

We tried eyeball to eyeball parliamentarianism, but Obasanjo said opposition is an enemy and one can't work with enemies so we turned to the more divisive presidential system of America and here we now are.

If Nigerian legislators were as knowledgeable as UK MPs, you mean, and if our political system was shored by the years of history that shores up UK governance.

One should not expect those who have not sowed to reap what sowers reap. If we too had done well we would be favoured, instead of being bitter like Cain.
