The Association of Resident Doctors in IMO State university teaching hospital Orlu embarked on an indefinite strike to protest against four months salary arrears owed them, restoration of their salary to 100% from 70% and Payment of 45 months 30% Salary arrears deducted from their salary as promised by the Emeka Ihedioha led IMO State Government.

The strike which took effect on 10th September 2019 have Crippled activities in the hospital.

A visit to accident and Emergency unit of the hospital by Akubude Jesse's blog media Crew revealed that patients were still receiving treatment but an Emergency patient was rejected and refused medical intervention as the workers said they were no longer admitting as at the time of making this report.

At the neonatal Intensive Care unit , Patients have been given until Friday this week to leave the Unit .

The Doctors have also shown appreciation to the Governor for flagging off of the reconstruction of the imsuth Road Neglected by the past government but appealed to him to redeem his promise of Restoration of their salaries to 100% as well as paying them their Four months salary arrears running from May to September 2019.

The Association of Resident Doctors IMSUTH chapter have written a Statement concerning the Strike .

The Statement reads

The members of Association of Resident Doctor (ARD) IMO state university (imsuth) arising from her general meeting held on 10th September 2019, 3pm at the
Residents Doctors Common room deliberated and noted the Following

1)Government refusal of 100% salary payment despite previous agreement and promises of his Excellence in a meeting held at the government house on the 5th June, 2019 between the government and Nigeria Medical Association IMO state Chapter.

2)Non payment of four months salary arrears (May ,June, July and August 2019)

3)Non Payment of forty five (45) months arrears of 30% deductions Unlawfully made on our Salaries

4)Non implementation of revised CONMESS circular vis-à-vis Skipping and relativity which has been implemented in Sister institutions

5) Poor medical equipment and infrastructure and inadequate manpower

We extensively deliberated on the above issue . Association of Resident Doctors ( ARD) IMSUTH unanimously resolved

To resume our suspended indefinitely strike action commencing from today tuesday 10th september with immediate effect until our demands are met.

Pray the government gives them a positive feedback real soon. So that they will Call Off the strike.

Since 2007, it's hard to get any 3 months without strike by IMSUTH doctors over salary.

They have deliberately run the teaching hospital aground.


At times, we wonder whether they are true or political doctors they employ at IMSUTH.
