Calabar Port will remain dormant as long as the Government and those in charge of NPA see it as 'eastern' Port |

Apapa and Abidjan port are still the deepest bays on the west African coast. politics apart it's natural if federal govt and investors utilizes apapa and tin can more. |

Blankstare: Bros there is nothing natural about it. If the government really wants to do it they can. If UAE could transform Dubai port to a deepsea port i don't see why they can't do it for Calabar port that just needs a little dredging to allow for bigger vessels. Afterall it was even the british that dredged the lagos lagoon channel to build Apapa Port that made large shipping come through 1 Like |

This is exactly what is wrong with Nigeria. Each administration would award contracts for projects but they would NEVER be performed. And the sad part about it is that no one, not even in the prior or succeeding administration had ever asked why was the same contract awarded over and over? The simple reason is that each administration sees it as a means to siphon money from the national treasury. Each one just signs a new contract for the same project and does not care whether the contract is performed or not. Then we wander why all these other countries treat Nigerians and their leaders with levity and regard them as stupid. Things like these would not be tolerated or allowed in their countries without somebody going to jail for that. But in Nigeria, such unpatriotic, heartless and self-serving rogues are celebrated and applauded, unfortunately by the same citizens that would have benefited from these projects. 2 Likes |
