Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday, received members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in his office in Abuja, Igbere TV reports.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is an American private foundation founded in 1994 as the William Gates Foundation by Bill Gates and wife, Melinda.

Re-launched in the year 2000 as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it is reported to be the largest private foundation in the world, holding $50.7 billion in assets.

Bill and Melinda Gates have been named the most generous philanthropists in the US. They have donated more than $36 billion to charitable causes, including $4.8 billion last year.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. In Nigeria, it focuses on eradication of polio, hunger and extreme poverty, while donating in billions to the country.

Speaking when he received the Gates’ leadership, Gbajabiamila asked the Foundation to intensify its intervention programmes in the areas of health care delivery services and agriculture.

He said Nigeria was always desirous of collaboration with development partners that would impact positively on the socio-political and economic development of the country.

The Speaker said Nigeria’s collaboration with the Foundation became imperative as the country marched toward the diversification of its economy and improved healthcare service delivery to the people.

Igbere TV reports that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s delegation was led by its President, Global Development, Mr Chris Elias.

Announcing the visit in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV, the Office of the Speaker on its official Twitter handle (@NGRSpeaker), wrote;

“Speaker @femigbaja and the leadership of the @HouseNGR in a meeting with the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation.

“The Speaker asked the foundation to intensify its intervention programmes in the areas of health care delivery services and agriculture.”

Oh! It's a soft way of accepting that we are not better off as a Nation. I can imagine how the Leadership in that House of Rep will be monitoring to see if the foundation has donated any cash...

What else do you expect, the experts in governance which are known as the looters will gladly show forth their expertise...

Bad Leadership has ruin this Country to the extent that the people are gradually loosing hope...

May God save us from evil people in governance...

Thanks Mr Speaker for representing us as a people. We hope to see good things spring forth from your position of Speakership...

I do not like the fact that they went to the Nigerians government... This meant to be a private donation... Not to the government... Now those perverts will be thinking of how to loot the money again

Buhari can not improve on human capital development because he is ANTI SOUTH.

He has shown gross disregard for the area that is creating the national wealth of the country.

His current cashless policy by the cbn is even anti south as the north will not be paying much of these taxes for cash deposit in commercial banks and withdrawals.

There’s a difference between for show and real work. We have abused every privilege we have been given in this country. We are lawless and indisciplined.

Why is there a military ADC at a meeting with NGOs?
Time to get rid of this carryover military culture of an ADC for every principal officeholder.

Now I have to share a deep knowledge of Private Foundations, which are also charitable firms but do not qualify as public charities. Many times they regularly are non-profits that were set with funds from a single source or specific sources, such as family protection. Angel Trust Family provides foundation services in the United Kingdom for your and your family's security. If you want to more information about this topic you can visit the site: https://theangeltrust.com/services/foundations/
