This is what is at stake:

N250,000 (i.e. US$600) for the winner,
N150,000 (i.e. US$400) for the 1st runner up and
N100,000 (i.e. US$250) for the 2nd runner up.

There will be prizes for the top three poets at each of the 4 quarterfinals, i.e. 1st, 2nd and 3rd gets N50,000, N30,000 and N20,000 respectively.

There will be consolation prizes for other contestants/ poets.

The best poem/ poetry performance of the entire competition gets N50,000.

The competition is open to all Poets (within and outside Nigeria) whether or not they have performed at any War Of Words or WORD UP event.
