Mr Godwin Emefiele, Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN), claims the plan to raise Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5% to 7.5% is in the correct direction to raise country income.

After the session of the Monetary Policy Committee in Abuja, Emefiele said this while posing questions from reporters.

He said the state had a duty to fend for all citizens by offering, among others, fundamental infrastructure such as highways, electricity and hospitals.
