The Revival of the Igumale Cement Company; A Blessing Under Comrade James Oche’s Leadership.

The Benue State Government made a giant move in the 2000’s to industrialize the Benue south senatorial and create more employment for the people.

The fortune fell on Ado and particularly the Igumale people whose land is blessed in solid minerals (Limestone) a popular raw material used in the manufacture of cement.

Unfolding events after the visit of the Chinese partners gradually eroded the hope of the people as their departure in November 2018 dashed the hope of the people.


The state government under the leadership of H E Governor Samuel Ortom however took a turn to rekindle the hope that was lost and took a deliberate step to restore the people’s confidence in the government with the visit of the team from the ministry of Trade and Industry under the leadership of the Hon Commissioner Industry, Trade and Investment Barr Memga Kachina who had in his team the permanent secretary, Director Industry and other senior staffs of the ministry.

The local government chairman Comrade James Oche and his council who are determined to lift Ado to the top were part of the team who paid an Inspectorial visit to the Igumale cement company with exhaustive discussions with the honorable commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment on the reactivation of the company so as to brace up to production as soon as possible.

The reassurance by the state team on the determination of H E Governor Samuel Ortom were super satisfying as Ado youths, Benue youths and professionals and Nigeria at large should be prepared as the answer to their prayers is already on the way as soon unemployment will be history.

The council boss Hon Jame Oche also recounted during the visit that the Ekile axis of the local government was also blessed and recalled that Dangote Cement Company once visited the site, he directed the DGSA to make available all documents relevant to the project so as to review and reactivate the relationship with the sole purpose of rejigging the project.

The Ado council boss also directed the DGSA to set up a committee of Enquiry to visit Ekile and the traditional council and report back on the progress so as to forward reports to the state on the journey so far.

The Hon Commissioner stated categorically that H E Governor Samuel Ortom upon receipt of the report of the visit will reach out to the technical partners Zhengzhou Cangxi and the Commerce Development Company limited of China on their readiness to continue with the project as the state government is ready with her own side of the counterpart fund(24M dollars) an amount that the UBA bank through her Branch Manager of the UBA Igumale is willing to also raise as the manager stated that they have had a surface discussion with the Council Chairman on getting involved in an advent where the State government was interested in financial partners.

The desk officer stated that the cement factory has an annual production capacity of 600,000 tones and a direct employment capacity of 100,000 people with over 200,000 indirect employment capacity.
The officer further added that the state government is meant to control 30 percent equity and 70 percent control to the Chinese partners and categorically stated that 3.118 dollars had already been committed by the state government on purchase of machinery.
