At the 16th Regular Meeting of Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, held on Tuesday, 10th September, 2019, the report and recommendations of the Appointment and Promotions Committee (A&PC) for promotion to Professorial cadre of Dr. Smart Otu and Dr. Moses Alo, to the rank of Professor of Criminology and Professor of Medical Microbiology respectively with effect from 1st October 2018, were approved.

The Governing Council further approved the promotion of forty four (44) academic staff with effect from 1st October 2019 and the confirmation of appointments of fifty nine (59) Academic Staff.
The senior and junior Non-Teaching Staff of the university were not left out, as Council approved the promotion of one hundred and seventy five (175) Senior Non-Teaching Staff and confirmation of the appointment of sixty four (64) Senior Non-Teaching Staff. Ninety two (92) Junior Non-Teaching staff were also promoted, while thirty nine (39) junior Non-Teaching staff were confirmed, with effect from 1st October 2019.
