Jubilations As Umahi Flags Off Palliative Measures For Air Travellers, Provides 2 Buses,10 Security Vehicles

Following the closure of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, the executive of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, on Tuesday, flagged off a palliative measures for air travellers, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV gathered that this in fulfilment of Governor Umahi’s promise to alleviate the difficulties and security challenges Ebonyi travellers might encounter as a result of the temporal closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu State.

Igbere TV reports that the state capital of Ebonyi, today, witnessed the flagging off of the palliative facilities which would ensure that Ebonyians and visitors of Ebonyi state who travel by air arrive Owerri Airport which is the closest Airport to Ebonyi state safely.

The Governor who is known for breaking new records and initiating beneficial brands that is geared towards the progress of Ebonyi State, South East and Nigeria at Large, has once again launched a first of its kind in Nigeria by providing coaster buses, security vehicles for the air travellers.

Speaking during the flag off event, the Secretary to the State Government/ Coordinating Commissioner, Kenneth Ugbala, PhD stated that the fatherly Governor expressed great concern over the safety of Ebonyians and visitors of the state following the temporal closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and subsequently directed him to provide in two weeks from 9th of September 2019;


* Two coaster buses

* 10 security hilux vehicles

* Condusive shuttle lodges in Abakaliki and owerri respectively

* Traveller Care phone lines.

The facilities have been flagged off today 24th September 2019. The event took place at the Ebonyi Shuttle Lodge located in Ebonyi State University permanent site, Abakaliki. Also speaking at the event, the Governor who was represented by the south east PDP Chairman, Chief Austin Umahi, applauded Dr Kenneth Ugbanna and expressed satisfaction over the swift and tasteful execution of the project and called on citizens not see the facilities as Government project but their personal properties which should be handled with care. He also advised that they minimize the rate of travelling as much as possible within this period or take advantage of these facilities which is ABSOLUTELY FREE to ensure their safety.

According to Umahi’s Special Assistant on New Media, Mr. Francis Nwaze, travellers are Advised to call 08126228482 or 07033642674 for Abakaliki shuttle lodge and 0708482664 or 07033414779 for owerri shuttle lodge for information on flights and shuttle buses.

The event was attended by dignitaries as well as Security Agencies who would partner with the Government in this initiative and provide security escort for the travellers from Owerri Airport to Abakaliki and vise versa. The dignitaries present at the event expressed great joy and praised the ever caring Governor Umahi for having the interest of Ebonyians at heart and seizes every opportunity to show it for sparing not cost to ensure the safety and comfort of Ebonyians.
