Several persons; including an Assistant Superintendent of Police were killed when suspected kidnappers ambushed an Abuja bound Sharon car from Port Harcourt.

The incident, which occurred within Koton-Karfe axis of Kogi State left several others with bullet wounds.

DAILY POST gathered that all occupants of another Toyota Camry car coming from Ibadan to Abuja, who tried to escape after running into the kidnapping scene sustained various degrees of injuries.

According to an escapee, who never wanted his name mentioned, “Our vehicle together with four other occupants of a Toyota Camry were coming from Ibadan and heading towards Abuja when suddenly we sighted some young men about 2 kilometers ahead in military camouflage with black mask on stopping vehicles.

“Some of the occupants of those vehicles stopped had already been marched into the bush. A Sharon car coming from Port Harcourt on sighting them tried to escape but got shot at which deflated its tyres while the car somersaulted, killing all its occupants.

“It was at this point we noticed that they may be kidnappers, our driver then engaged the reverse gear and they started firing at our car.

“The driver was hit on the shoulder with bullets coming out at the other side and hit the man at the back seat on the head.”

The lucky escapees said that they drove straight to the Gegu police station, who visited the scene and arranged for their being taken to Kotin-Karfe general hospital from where they were taken to the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja.

He said that the driver has been referred to National Hospital, Abuja while the occupants at the back seat who sustained bullet wounds on the head have been referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan to have the bullets lodged in his head removed.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Wednesday.

CP Busari said that he got a report that a car stopped by kidnappers dressed in camouflage was shot at which made it to somersaulted killing all occupants, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police from Edo state.

He said investigation had been opened into the incident.

What is wrong with dis govt?? Their absolute silence and inaction on d spate of kidnappings in particular is what is helping fuel dis trend... If dis has gotten to d Abuja Lokoja axis den we are all in trouble in dis country becos dat route is taken by motorists coming and going to d south-West, South-East and South-South..

first of all, warri passport office has sworn that they have no paper to print travel passports. Do you all pretend not to read that? and you keep quiet? this is how they frustrate people to the point that they begin to kidnap. someone has an opportunity to show up for a trial and because of travel passport, the guy will miss his chance. then when his life takes a bend into kidnapping they will blame him.

You all will spend your life chasing after delinquents while the matured criminals are appraised as heroes. these kidnappers are by-products of the main kidnapper who sits as the president of a country. these boys are trying to survive by all means. I do not support criminality but whatever rewards is meted on them is ok by me.
my own is that i don't fall for the smell of meat, I fall for the meat itself. the main problem that propelled those kidnappers into kidnapping is the failed economy. stop proposing businesses for people. many have tried different ways to make it but they end up with suicidal thoughts.
when you have a president who does not address the issues of a country, you will keep having killers and con men terrorizing everyone. those kidnappers could have been working in Port Harcourt wharf if they had opened it up for business. they could have been working in warri wharf if it were functional. the refineries are not working. instead of building new ones, why not rehabilitate the existing ones? the northerners made sure that the south remains impoverished. oil comes from the south but no development in the south. the entire oil companies have their headquarters in the west or in the north. no one knows who owns the oil wells in the country. the oil wells found in the home of the south are almost owned by the northerners. but they have gold and no one can get close. in fact, the entire country did not know of the gold until last year when the bandits began killing themselves.
the Igbos are hustling in business without support. Yoruba people are all looking for doors and windows out of the country. the northerners are still without elementary education. ask those corpers who served in the north. big girls who should be in the universities are still in primary schools.
instead of focusing on the main issue, they spend their time chasing petty thieves. create jobs and create a system of tracking hobos. go to army barracks and you will cry for the families of those soldiers. police barracks nkor? my dear you go cry. what life is there for the families of the victims of Boko haram and the Fulani herdsmen?
they create the problem and they proper face-valued remedy. it can never work.
create jobs and open opportunities. open the ports in PH and in Warri. dredge river Niger.
Benin and Cotonou are milking us because of your hatred of the easterners and southerners. widen out the economy and there will be opportunities for these boys that you call kidnappers. they are survivors. my only pain is that they do not go to kidnap these politicians. kidnap the politicians and things will change in no time.

We are doomed. The sad news is that this government doesn't give a damn about the security situations, all they know is their pockets. Its a pity we have to find ourselves in such situation due to hatred for one tribe. No wahala, every tribe is now feeling the heat.

This country is useless. We dont know how to solve problems. Can there be a reward for reporting kidnappers? As in whistle-blow any suspected kidnapper. If the claim is authentic, the whistle-blower gets 500k? If this policy starts, 30% of kidnappers will be busted. This nonsense just has to end because the more their successes, the more brazen they get.

They appear when people least expect. We need a system that gives a reward out for them. Villages have to be alert. If you notice any group of people suspicious, raise an alarm
