What is the minimum wage in NY? Compare to min wage in Nigeria.

No basis to compare the budgets. Let's not even mention the revenue NY genetates.

2 different countries with different exchange rates.

What kind of useless comparison is this

Why don't you compare us with our mates? Compare us with South Africa, Ghana, Tunisia, Mozambique.

We are thousand years behind USA

California alone is also $215 bn

Meanwhile even if we have same budget, Africans are ready to divert 40% for personal use, 30% for goons and cronies and the rest for whatever it can covers ...

New York is a tax paying state. Always pay your taxes. They don't have crude oil. The luck they had was never having a dense bully like OBJ for 8 years and a weak, unexposed GEJ for another six. Always pay your taxes. Nigerias tax income should be $43bn, oil receipts about $30bn.
Many young people are completely lacking in understanding of things that make societies great. All they know is the narrow ethnic politics and sub nationalism that vocal idiots like themselves brainwash them.with.

Op this is one of those not carefully reasoned posts people these days are known for. I think as human beings especially on large platforms like this require one to think through posts before posting. How can you compare us in terms of exchange rate. Do you know that a 2-bedroom apartment in that city costs up to $1200 per month? Can you afford to pay N150k per month in Nigeria? Do you know how much it costs to buy a mobile phone in that city when you exchange to the Naira? Why is it that we just don't think critically before condemning our country? Before now, some people call Nigeria Zoo. When the South Africans went after them, they realised they were Nigerians and even sang the National Anthem. Guy this post has done a lot of disservice to your person. Appreciate our country as we do not have any other one. Yes New York get light and good roads. You need to live in their midst to realise how its citizens complain about lack of this, lack of that. Na person wey never visit another man ghetto, go dey think say im own worst pass. Nigeria will surely be great again

$15x40=$600 per week=$2400 per month.
2400x360=N864, 000.00 per month.

This is the min wage in NY.
Min wage in Nigeria is N30000. 00 which is not even paid yet.
So you shouldn't compare their budgets at all. NEVER

Re: Nigeria VS New York city 2019 Budget, See The Huge Gap by saaron(m): 5:20pm On Sep 27, 2019
That's the difference between federalism and feeding bottle parasitism.
While United States operate federalism where each constituent state in the union have total control over their economic resources (economic activities and revenue generation and pay tax to the centre) and develop at their own pace, Nigeria operates a feeding bottle program where every state is handicaped to control of economic activities and recources in their areas and made to congregrate every month in Abuja for monthly allocation. This explains the absence of creativity and productivity considering the monthly flow of free oil money. Take away monthly allocation and 90 percent of states in Nigeria will die a natural death.

It will interest some people to know that states in America have;
- Their own supreme courts.
- They have their own state polic force (notably NYPD - Newyork Police Department).
- They own all natural recources domicile in their states.

The productivity and economic advancement of America was not by accident, they were made possible by cardinal principles vested on their states as listed above.

It's not very hard...just restructure the damn Country! The Fed government can act as a defacto central government and administer on issues like defence, currency and others!

this is not about exchange rate, rather revenue, the more revenue you have, the more you can fund your budget

South africa budget for 2019 is R1.83 trillion, convert to dollar and see, i think that is about 120 billion USD compare to Nigeria budget of say $21 Billion

Nigeria is a poor country, lets accept the reality.

Nigeria as a federation is not rich talk less of reconstructing the nation, nothing will change.

Well I have been saying this
No developed country in this world expect the super rich(natural resources) and small population has their budget less than 30% of our GDP ...none ...I mean no ours is 7% on a good year ...yet revenue is around 3% of our GDP

We have a GDP of about 400bn dollars ....we can easily tax out 150bn ...thats a good place to start

an average Nigerian pays less than 3000 tax in a full year and u want to be developed we are all jokers

The earlier people realise that Nigeria is a poor country accept that fact and start working on it instead of blaming everything on the government the earlier we will start moving forward Nigeria is a very very poor country and only education I mean qualitative education at the primary levels can take us out of this scenario that we are in
