After a heavy down pour yesterday night, a bridge linking Ado-Ekiti town and the The federal polytechnic ADO-ekiti and Afe Babalola university went down, taking with it a Toyota Seinna bus.

Eye witness account reported that three of the occupant of the bus in an attempt to go out the vehicle and cross to the other side, were swept away by the flood.

Two of them were rescued, but unfortunately one was swept away by the flood and was seen today dead.

Currently, the road is impassable cutting all movement between the town the two institution along the road.

I know that bridge wouldn't last long.

Ado Ekiti was my home as an undergraduate.

The bridge has been in a moribund state for years despite effort by Afe Babalola (SAN) and ABUAD.... It's a bridge that never received any standard repair but quackery patches over the years.

Hope no life was lost.

Not again! That bridge was that bad even before Adebayo. It's quite unfortunate that none of the past governors deemed it fit for reconstruction, only patching. The ball is in Fayemi's court now, let the blame game stop, let real construction work start from him!

I hope the government do something to this bridge because we have both students from federal polytechnic and Afe Babalola university using this road.
