Independence Message from the President of the Law Students Association of Nigeria

I felicitate with fellow LAWSANS across the federation on this auspicious occasion of our country’s 59th independence anniversary. This day every year, reminds us of the fruitful struggles of our heroes past. It also inspires us to serve our country and raise our flags of peace and endeavour higher.

October 1st represents a focal period in Nigerian history, and each anniversary is an ideal time to take stock of our achievements and progress as a nation. I believe that LAWSANITES have every reason to celebrate considering our resilience and tough spirit in the midst of challenges as Nigerian youths. There is much to remind us of our capacity to achieve excellence and change. This year’s Independence day should serve as a call to our generation, a day for renewing faith in our country regardless of whatever conflict; religious or political that we face. As LAWSANITEs, we have a duty to contribute our quota to building the prospective Nigeria which we desire.

Today, I employ us all remember the valiant fight for independence 59 years ago fought by the founding fathers of this great nation. Let us use this auspicious occasion as an opportunity to unite and generate solutions to our common challenges as LAWSANITES and as Nigerians.

Contrary to popular opinion, Nigeria has made certain strides in the time since October 1st 1960! Let us reflect on our achievements with pride and hope, believing that despite the roadblocks, obstacles, setbacks and despair, the collective efforts of dedicated; patriotic and hardworking Nigerians have laid a foundation on which we can build together, a brighter future for our country.

The future of this nation is dependent on the commitment and patriotism of our people; our dedication to service of our fatherland and efficient use of the abundant human and natural resources bestowed on us by God.

Signed ......

our leaders were the very people that put this country into this mess its in.
what labour ?, whose hero ?

The poverty, the deaths, the injustice & lamentation in the land is because of our bad leaders.

An American can be proud of many of its past leaders that have steered their country to where it is now internationally..

but which Nigerian here will celebrate this rubbish called an anniversary & its past leaders that made political mistakes that's costing us now.

& come 2023 election another set of old, incompetent, power hungry & visionless leaders will be voted again.

this post & whatever convention it was that held this just don't know their history
