Nigeria, the most populous black country in the world is often referred to as the creation of the then British colonial administration.
The country came into existence in its present form via the 1914 amalgamation of Northern and Southern Protectorates by Sir Frederick Lugard.
Before the amalgamation, 16 years earlier, Flora Shaw, who later married Lugard, first suggested in an article for The Times, that the several British protectorates on the Niger be called Nigeria.

Nevertheless, “On Oct. 1, 1960, in spite of many difficulties, focusing mainly on the differences, among its various component groups, Nigeria became a sovereign federation.’’

UK PM Johnson to unveil ‘final Brexit offer’ to EU

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will on Wednesday unveil his final Brexit offer to the EU and say that, if Brussels does not engage with it, Britain will stop talking and leave on Oct. 31 regardless.

In his closing speech to his Conservatives’ annual conference, Johnson will stick to his hard line on Brexit, offering the party faithful details of what he will describe as his “fair and reasonable compromise”.

With less than a month left until Britain is due to leave the EU, the future of Brexit, its most significant geopolitical move since World War Two, is uncertain.

It could leave with a deal or without one……………..

Osinbajo thrills audience with Gbese, shaku-shaku.

Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday at an Independence Anniversary Gala, thrilled audience when he listed many trending Nigerian dance steps.

Osinbajo who was speaking on how Nigerian’s stood out in a very unique way, listed many of the dance steps originating from Nigeria and now trending beyond Nigeria.
