JUST GO STERLING BANK AND THANK ME LATER. ASK OF SPECTA LOAN , U DON'T NEED TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF U'RE SALARY EARNER OR SELF EMPLOYED , AS LONG AS U
HAVE AN EXISTING ACCOUNT, THAT'S UP TO A YEAR IN ANY BANK . U GET UR LOAN IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES, WITHOUT COLLATERAL. U CAN EVEN ACCESS IT ONLINE. IT'S THE EASIEST, THE BEST AND FASTEST. I THINK INTEREST RATE IS AROUND 2.5% PAYABLE OVER A PERIOD OF 12 MONTHS. U CAN CALL CUSTOMER CARE , FOR MORE INFORMATION.

only if you have a current account or prepared for them to set one up for you

I don't think it's wise to start a business with loan bro. Loans are meant to finance an already existing business.. Please be careful about taking loans to start a business.

There are things Nigerians are not getting right or something the CBN is yet to tell Nigerians truthfully.or they are hidding something from the Public.
1.What is the present Interest Rate to be paid?.is it 5% or20%on a loan of N500,000.? For simplicity, the higher the interest rate, the more people/ Customers will resist coming for loans, since the Interest is additional Cost to the Loan amount. the CBN and bankers are aware of this.
ii.Which area of business is preferred by CBN that All the Bank's should focus?.in Banking parlance called Preferred Sector-is it Agriculture,or Fast Moving Goods/Manufacturing? or Real/Steel,engineering? or Oil & Gas or Petroleum industry.?
iii.When is Final Repayment Day?.
Therefore,it is not about not giving loans but a Complex viability of what to give to the public and at what price that is both good for bank to make profits and better for public at a low price.Any loan from CBN far higher than 5- 7 % may not be welcomed because of reality of our time.

Hello people. A lot has been said on this topic already. I think the CBN is committing fraud if the only reason they are ceasing the banks money is for not giving out risky loans. What is a risky loan? If the CBN feels the public should access more loans, let them collect the money from the banks and bare the risk of giving out these loans to the public. Just imagine, you want banks to give out risky loans but will run away when these loans go bad or default? SMH. CBN you should be working with banks such that via the BVN if a customer takes a loan and runs away, CBN can flag such customers in any bank where they may have hidden the loan. Listen to the banks and help them to help more people, not threaten them to just give out money.

Expand ain't on the list because they'be maintained a loan to deposit ratio of 60% and above. Talk about a bank that complies with all CBN rules and regulations, you won't find Ecobank defaulting

The news is misleading. It is not a fine. The reporter had a poor understanding of the issue and did a very bad job.

The money still belongs to the banks just that it is now warehoused by CBN at zero interest since they failed to lend it out.

I think non salary earners are qualified too. You can check their website to verify.
But if you are a salary earner its even better you open a salary account with them. grin
You can chat them on twitter to get genuine information.
If you have further enquiry give me a mention, I have a friend that works with GTB.

Unless you’re saying that you can charge the card for more than the amount in the account...

Whatever fanciful term the bank may have dubbed your card, it’s effectively a DEBIT card...
In fact, it’s WORSE than a debit card as you’ll pay interest on the “credit” ostensibly being granted.

Meanwhile, you and your business should be SEPARATE legal persons (with different BVN and TIN numbers)...
Thus, unless you’re providing a personal guarantee for loans to the business, your personal credit history is irrelevant.
>
It seems you are not getting the gist; I am talking about how people or business without previous credit history which banks can use for them to get loan, you are saying something else. We are actually not on the same page. Can you read where people are saying they asked for loan and banks declined them? That is mostly because of lack of credit history. If I should pay some interest on a certain credit card in order to catalyze my credit history, what is bad in that?

Access bank payday loan is the easiest. You do not even need to visit anywhere and you can access the loan be it salary account, current or even savings account. 4680 was charged as total interest + vat + Maintainance on a 90k loan for 1 month. (The 4680 removed upfront).

I hope they have no other hidden fees. Make sure you have the hard token if you're to go for the loan on their web banking login.

Ecobank do give loans but at varying interest rates of 28% to 34%.

That is about 2.3% to 2.8% rates monthly which is still okay compared to those banks with 4% or more rates

I got the “gist” alright...

If, as a pre-requisite to get business or personal funding from a bank or financial institution, it is mandatory to deposit in a lockbox the same amount of personal funds, then (by whatever name you may prefer to call it - loan, credit card, etc - because you seem lost in nomenclature rather than focusing on substance) it is NOT a LOAN or credit (even if they give you a card euphemistically called a “credit card”). Accordingly, that methodology does NOT resolve the issue under discussion in this thread (to use your exact words as to what the issue under discourse is) of “people saying they asked for loan and the bank declined them”.

Nonetheless, you have introduced a new element that it is substantively a payment to establish a credit history, the worthiness of which one presupposes is a personal decision for each individual. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT HELP YOUR BUSINESS! First, your business account should (both by law, good corporate governance and just plain good sense) be SEPARATE from your personal account(s) and finances. In fact, the quickest route to the demise of startups is to CO-MINGLE business and personal finances. Ideally (and, in fact, by law) you should have DIFFERENT AND SEPARATE accounts (including BVN and TIN) for you and your business.

Accordingly, again, unless you are providing personal guarantees for your business, shelling out money to create a PERSONAL credit history is an exercise in futility in resolving the issue of startup business people “saying they asked for loan and their banks declined them”.

maximunimpact:
For breaching its guidelines on lending to the real sector of the economy, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has fined 12 major banks N499.1billion.

According to an approved debit instruction, the affected banks and the amount they will pay are: Citibank (N100,743,055, 321); First Bank of Nigeria (N74,668,880,480); FBNQuest Merchant Bank (N2, 697,456,144); First City Monument Bank (FCMB), (N14, 371,064, 742) and Guaranty Trust Bank (N25, 147, 933, 628).

Others are Jaiz Bank (N7, 525, 165,552); Keystone Bank (N4, 162, 938, 879); Rand Merchant Bank (N2, 823,177,399); Standard Chartered Bank (N30,027,137,984); SunTrust Bank (N1,703,205,427); United Bank for Africa (N99,676,181,916) and Zenith Bank (N135,629,337,625).

The banks will lose the money at source from their Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) with the CBN.

The CRR is a portion of the banks’ deposits kept with the CBN for regulatory reasons.

The apex bank, on July 3, 2019, directed banks to maintain a minimum Loan Deposit Ratio (LDR) of 60 per cent by September 30, 2019.

The LDR, which was being reviewed quarterly to improve lending to the real sector, was 58.5 per cent as at May.

It has now been raised to 65 per cent for the last quarter of the year.

A CBN circular: “Regulatory Measures to Improve Lending to the Real Sector of the Nigerian Economy,” says in order to ramp up economic growth through investment in real sector, the CBN approved that all banks should maintain a minimum LDR of 60 per cent by September 30.

Based on the guidelines, failure to meet the minimum loan to deposit ratio of 60 per cent by October 1 would attract a levy of fine which is additional CRR equal to 50 per cent of the lending shortfall of the target.

Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele had said that banks that fail to meet its directive on the 60 per cent LDR would be penalised at the expiration of the deadline.

“Failure to meet the above minimum LDR by the specified date shall result in levy or additional Cash Reserve Requirement equal to 50 per cent of the lending shortfall of the target,” CBN Director, Banking Supervision, Ahmad Abdullahi, said in the July 3 circular.

The LDR policy is expected to push banks to increase lending to high risk-borrowers, with the potential of incurring heavy losses and higher non-performing loans.

To encourage SMEs, retail, mortgage and consumer lending, these sectors shall be assigned a weight of 150 per cent in computing LDR for this purpose.
