Community leader warns against tarnishing OBJ’s name

Land speculators in Ogun and Lagos States have been warned to desist from tarnishing the good name of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in the pursuit of their selfish interests.

A community leader in Ogun State, Chief Oke Ijaodola gave the warning while reacting to the unscrupulous activities of some land speculators in the state who he said were fond of fraudulently using the revered name of the elder statesman as cover, to perpetrate their nefarious activities.

Ijaodola expressed dismay at the manner the land speculators often flaunt the name of the former President anytime they ran into trouble while carrying out their illegal activities. According to the community leader,”Obasanjo is not only an ex-president, he is a special leader with divine mission for the people of the South west and the nation in general.

“It is most painful that unscrupulous people would be using the name of former president as shield anytime they are involved in illegal land acquisition dealing. “They would claim that it was t he who owns this land and that land when in actual fact, he never sent them on errand concerning land. Where he has his land is well known to all of us. In fact most of his landed property have been fenced.

“The other time, they came here to foment trouble over what does not belong to them. When we moved against them and asked them to produce evidence that they have any link with the man they said they were representing, they had nothing to show as evidence. It is just a case of name-dropping to cover up their fraudulent dealings.

“That is why we are warning them to desist from any act capable of tarnishing the good name of our father. The former president is father to all of us and that is why, we are warning them to carry the cross of their fraudulent and illegal activities alone,” he said.
