Director, producer, actor, screenwriter, playwright and humanitarian @tylerperry held a star studded gala to celebrate the opening of his new movie studio in Atlanta. The historic studio sits on a 330-acre lot with 40 buildings and 12 sound stages. Each sound stage is dedicated to a black person who has made a significant impact in Hollywood, including the late Diahann Carroll. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The grand opening included Hollywood heavyweights and notables like Oprah Winfrey, Cecily Tyson, Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Whoopi Goldberg, Spike Lee, Ava DuVernay, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Halle Berry, and political leaders John Lewis, Bernice King and Stacey Abrams. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During his acceptance speech at the 2019 BET Awards, Perry said he built the studio in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Atlanta, “so the kids can see that a Black man did that and they can too.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well done Tyler Perry. #dreambigger
