Recall in 2018, A professor who was dismissed for allegedly demanding s-x from a student for marks has landed in another trouble.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, is set to arraign a former lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Prof. Richard akindele, at the Federal High Court, Osogbo.

Also Recall that Mr akindele, a lecturer in the oau’s Department of Management and Accounting, was caught allegedly demanding for s-x from one of his students, Miss Monica Osagie, in lieu of academic benefits.

The ICPC’s decision to publicise Prof akindele’s impending arraignment is in fulfillment of the commission’s promise to the public in a rejoinder in the same newspaper dated September 7, 2018, to avail them of the outcome of the investigation in due time

In a statement, the anti-corruption agency disclosed that the dismissed lecturer would be arraigned on Monday on a three-count charge.
According to the ICPC, Mr akindele is accused of using his position as to demand sexual benefit from a student and fraudulently upgrade her result in Research Method course which she supposedly failed in 2017.

The commission said that his actions were contrary to Sections 8 (1) (a) (ii), and 18 (d) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and are punishable under the same sections.

The 57-year-old professor has asked for plea-bargain having admitted guilt. He also cited ill-health as a factor that may make him unable to stand the rigours of prison life, notifying the Commission through his lawyer, Omotayo Alade-Fawole.

The Ministry of Education should be in position to update the public on the above. Imagine the quality of graduates we produce every year. Graduates who scarcely attend classes but come out with very good grades just for spreading their legs and paying for marks with no substance upstairs.

We need to sit up as a nation to wipe this scourge eating our educational sector most especially our citadel of learning in Nigeria. We have over a 1000 schools in Nigeria, each and everyone of them have stories to tell on the above subject matter if we sample the opinion of its students. Imagine, having a cold room for bleeding girls in Unilag.

What our institutions of higher learning is telling Nigerians today is that, having a girl child in any higher institutions means our kids/children/babies is at the mercy of lecturers.

Lectures that should be guardians, protectors, teachers, advisors, confidants of these students ends up turning them into s-x machines or s-x objects. They go as far as even passing them around for sexual activities.

Go to our institutions of higher learning at night to see how our clueless politicians, rich men pick these girls for political engagements as runs. Go to female hostels at night to see for yourselves.

Parents, please, visit your children unannounced when you have the time to find out what these kids do. Be it male or female child. You will be amazed with what your findings.

Most annoying of all is that those investigated so far are acclaimed clerics (pastors). I wonder what these men are preaching to their congregations.

It is a shame to our religious houses, a shame to our institutions of higher learning, a shame to our legislative arm of government and a shame to the FGN!!!
