*As Obaseki Cruises To Second Term: It's A Handful Of EPM Members Against 4 Million Edos*

We are not unaware of the unsolicited political distraction that supposedly patriotic Edos have had to take the government of Edo State and Edo people through; all aimed at discrediting Gov. Godwin Obaseki, usurping political leadership and entrenching the business-as-usual political style where a few opportunistic elements and self-styled political warlord sits on the collective financial resources and fortunes of the larger majority

Pre-Obaseki era, this was the popular practice, where the revenue of an entire State was at the mercy of unschooled and unlearned street urchins, with many, during the life of the past administration shutting down an entire community in celebration of billions in personal bank accounts, yet no trace of work history attached to their inglorious profile

So much so that a viable local government like Oredo in Edo State which as at today, can conveniently generate millions on monthly basis as IGR could only at that time struggle to realize between N450,000.00-N500,000.00; it was an administration for only the strong when self-styled strong men could wake up, seize the properties, wives and by extension snuff the life out of the less-powerful and still get Police and government cover

It was indeed an unpopular political era

A critic may say, but Gov. Obaseki was a major player in that administration; yes, whereas Obaseki was Head, Economic Team, yet his level of influence and decision making mechanism was limited; the bulk stopped on Oshiomhole’s table; we are reliably informed that Obaseki on several occasions advised Oshiomhole to desist from stomach infrastructure and build mental capacity, often times his counsel in this regard was treated with kid gloves

It is almost impossible to state clearly the issues between Oshiomhole and Gov. Obaseki; methinks the former Governor has allowed himself to be used by political megalomaniacs in their quest to continually feast on our collective patrimony; clearly, the erstwhile Governor did not approach this matter with skill and expected deft

Weeping up sentiments from the impasse in the Edo State House of Assembly as a basis to cast aspersions on Obaseki is like giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it; we are not strangers to the various nefarious acts that ensued in EDHA when Oshiomhole held sway

It is illogical to have empowered an individual only to later turn around in concert with other elements to want to unseat the same individual via ridicule and propaganda, this is the highest height of witchcraft

Gov. Obaseki has systemically carved his name as one uncommon Governor who stemmed the tide of thuggery, political maladministration, executive rascality and financial impropriety in Edo State; there is no gain saying the fact that left for the generality of Edo people who are the actual kingmakers in contemporary politics, Obaseki is eminently qualified for a second term, at least to consolidate on the unquantifiable achievements in his first term and by extension prepare a formidable foundation for successive administrations to build on

It is imperative to state clearly and unequivocally that a mass of Edo people will continue to resist deliberate orchestrations by a few elements who feel dissatisfied with Obaseki’s administrative style to demonize the Governor; instead of losing popularity amongst the ordinary people, the Governor’s support base continue to swell at home and in the diaspora

We are determined to rally massively behind Gov. Godwin Obaseki to institutionalize sane, responsible and accountable political order in Edo that will suffice in stimulating the necessary development ingredients needed to solidify inclusive political participation in Edo State as against the conventional practice where a few strongmen dictated political and economic affairs in Edo

No matter how you try, man will never be satisfied, and by the way who is Obaseki without General Oshomole?yes we know his uncle Chief Judge, but who is he that was given the Governorship of Edo State on a platter of gold?
