An upcoming artist, Furak Adamu, is currently demanding 730million compensation from South African retail store, Shoprite.

The artist is demanding for justice over infringement of his song by Shoprite. According the artist, he only submitted his song to Shoprite for a deal to be signed, only for Shoprite to turn around and started playing the song across their stores without his permission.

“The Federal High Court Abuja finally assigned my suit (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/808/2019) against SHOPRITE HOLDINGS LIMITED & RETAIL SUPERMARKET NIGERIA LIMITED @Shoprite_NG to court 4, before HON. JUSTICE A. R. MUHAMMED.”

“Appearance date will be communicated soon. My counsel requested the matter be assign to HON. JUSTICE A. I CHIKERE because she handles the 100M Naira suit filed by RETAIL SUPERMARKET NIGERIA LIMITED @Shoprite_NG against FRIDAY EMEH @Gkase4real and another, which is a case of same subject matter.”

“The suit is also in response to the letter dated 19th February, 2019 by the Nigerian Copyright Commission asking me to pursue my rights in civil court, I've done that in search of justice for myself and my artiste (Friday Emeh)”

“The case between RETAIL SUPERMARKET NIGERIA LIMITED @Shoprite_NG Vs FRIDAY EMEH @Gkase4real and THE NIGERIAN COPYRIGHT COMMISSION sitting before HON. JUSTICE A. I CHIKERE comes up for hearing on 14th October, 2019 at the Federal High Court Abuja.”
