The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has questioned the planned military operation 'IV Operation Python Dance' in the south-east spearheaded by Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.

The pro-Biafran group has asked the Nigeria military to stop intimidating it people and instead they should channel their energy in fighting insecurity in the north, insisting that the Southeast was relatively peaceful.

The Nigerian Army had recently announced its plans to begin the fourth phase of Operation Python Dance in the south-east soon.

The media and publicity secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful in a lengthy statement said the only insecurity in Biafra land was those introduced by land grabbing terror herdsmen “aided and abated by South-East governors.”

He said, “Announcing countless and meaningless military operations within the borders of Nigeria is indicative that this army headed by Buratai is just an instrument of suppression and intimidation.

“Civilised democratic countries set up their armies to fight external enemies and protect their borders but in Africa as with all developmentally backward parts of the world, national armies are being used to oppress the civilian population of which Nigeria is a prime example.
