Raw materials requirement

Powder Base: The powder base required for the production of medicated body powder is Talc. It has the ability to absorb moisture and perspiration. It also stops skin irritation due to shaven and acts as lubricants. it comes in pure white, off-white and grayish shades/colors. If you are producing baby powder, pure white should be used, while off-white talc is used for children or adult powder.
Additives: These include astringent materials such as zinc oxide, zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, etc. They are most essential deodorant powders. Others are antiseptic materials for prickly heat and fungus infections of the skin. Please note that boric acid is found to be poisonous , especially to babies children, when it accumulates in the body. Modern antiseptic chemicals recommended for baby powder are Chlorhexidine, Trichlocarbanilide (TCC). Camphor powder, zinc oxide, among others can be incorporated into body powder for children 3 years and above and adults.
Fillers/Extenders: To bulk up your medicated body powder, Light calcium carbonate,Magnesium carbonate, pure kaolin, or pure corn starch, can be used. Combination of Light calcium carbonate with Magnesium carbonate in an appropriate ratio gives excellent result.
Perfumes: The nice scent of all types you perceive in body powders are as a result of perfumes used. It should be noted that non-irritant and non-sensitizing perfumes must be used for baby powders. Storage containers: The recommended storage container is the plastic container. Plastic containers are cheap and durable. The plastic containers should be provided with separate perforated inner cover and an additional outer cover cover that can ship in after filling the container with the powder.
