AGAS COMMISERATES WITH DELTA STATE, ASAGBA ON DEATH OF PROFESSOR EDOZIEN

The Chief Strategist to the Delta State Government and immediate past Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, has sent condolences to the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Prof Chike Edozien on the death of Prof. Emmanuel Edozien.

Professor Edozien, younger brother to the Asagba died on Thursday at the age of 82.

In a condolence message made available to news men in Asaba and personally signed by him, the Chief Strategist Rt. Hon. Festus Agas expressed sadness at the passage of the erudite scholar.

He noted that the late scholar was an accomplished economist, professor, businessman and boardroom guru and a former Economic Adviser to late President, Shehu Shagari.

He said "As a Professor of International & Development Economics and former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Ibadan, Chairman, Governing Council, Bells University of Technology, Otta; Chairman, PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC; Vice Chairman, AMNI Petroleum; Director; Nigeria Printing and Minting Company and Chairman, Board of Trustees, PZ Cussons Foundationwas a renowned Professor of Economics who made alot of sacrifice for the economic growth and educational development of our Nation Nigeria, there is no doubt that the deceased was an intellectual giant.

"He played a great role in nation building. Indeed it's a great loss of asset to Delta State and Nigeria", he stated.

Agas further described the late Emmanuel as " a public figure of many dimensions whose passion for business and education was uncommon".

He therefore prayed that God almighty grants Delta State, the Asagba of Asaba Prof., the royal family, entire Asaba Community and indeed Nigeria the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
