The secret to creating wealth from retailing is Understanding VARs (Value added reselling).

Africans middle class is growing at an alarming rate—investor and philanthropist George Soros described Africa as “one of the new bright spots on the gloomy global economic horizon’.

Analysts say the rate of return on foreign investment in Africa is higher than in any other developing region. Over the last decade, six of the world’s 10 fastest-growing countries were in African.

In eight of the last 10 years, Africa’s lion states have grown faster than the Asian tigers.

As a result, Africa now has the fastest-growing middle class in the world. Some 313 million people, 34% of Africa’s population, they spend USD 2.20 a day, a 100% rise over the last 20 years, according to the African Development Bank.

Why does this matter?

The thing is this, Africans middle class wants to make their lives better, they want the taste of what it feels enjoy being “rich” to live rich.

But unlike the middle class in the western countries that have a better purchasing power, Africans middle-class won’t afford most of the premium brands apart from fairly used goods.

Well, a known example is an iPhone, most iPhones and apple products that are bought by African middle class are from the fairly used market.

Herein, is the big deal, Transsion saw this and tapped into it and went into the production of Affordable smartphones for these fast-growing class of consumers, some of their products: Tecno, Itel and Infix and they won real big with it.

Even Polystar has joined the trend. So far they had grabbed reasonable market share from LG and Samsung.

The good part of the story is that “You” can also join this growing trend.

You need not set up a manufacturing hub to own a brand of electronics products or smartphone band with a minimum viable quality and value-added features that appeal to African middle class. Yes, you read right.
