By 2022, patriotic Nigerians will wish we had someone like PMB since 1999.

Truth is, if Buhari had half of what PDP squandered in their 16 years of looting and wastage, he would have done wonders.

Sane Nigerians are with PMB while wailing wailers are wailing day by day.

I just pray God gives you the opportunity to just travel to small Tunisia, then you'll know that the black race is really behind. Its going to take them thousands of years before they can meet up. This is what you guys are jumping over the roof for in 2019. What a pity!
Never too late to start now.. Buhari isn"t God but he is doing his best as a being.whether good or bad let us give him chance to rule.just for 4yrs only.

Best administration so far in terms of infrastructure. Quality speedy work going on on Enugu/portharcourt dual carriage road. Also enugu/onitsha, though they are slow. From Lagos to Benin, a good chunk of that road is under construction. By 2023, sensible Nigerians will be grateful to those of us who ensured buhari emerged.

He's not starting new projects next year doesn't mean he didn't start new projects in his first term. This Lagos Ibadan rail and other routes were started in his first term.

And kudos to him for wanting to complete abandoned projects scattered across the country too.

From the entry on Wikipedia (which matches my memory):
"A $1.53 billion contract was awarded in 2012 to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for construction of the Lagos–Ibadan segment (156 km) of the standard gauge railway by 2016. However, the project has also faced delays. A ground-breaking ceremony finally took place on 7 March 2017, and the railway was scheduled for completion in December 2018. Construction was delayed by heavy rains in Spring 2018,[10] and the Nigerian government had to deploy soldiers to protect the railway workers from hoodlums and armed robbers.[11] Construction was further delayed by the 2019 Nigerian general election, when CCECC evacuated its Chinese employees as a precaution.[12] The railway is now scheduled for completion in May 2020."

Yes, I'll concede that ground-breaking ceremony happened during PMB, but to ignore all the work done before: planning, feasibility study, budgeting, awarding contract, is not giving due credit to all parties involved. But nonetheless, kudos to PMB for continuing where his predecessors left off.

Why is China building this ? It's a standard gauge railway. They've existed since 1845 and Britain has all its trains running on this by 1890. It's 2019 and we still need the Chinese to come in and build these ? Nigeria can't build them? Or is it a part of China's Belt and Road under which every country has to use Chinese companies and workers in return for the loans.

Fundamentally, we can't do it because we've refused to be an industrial country.
China is the current cheapest place to do it, and they don't often add too many conditions.
Belt and road is not really different from IMF - they won't insist you use European or American companies, but that's what ended up happening anyway.

Until we get serious about turning our own iron ore into steel... we'll continue to be at the mercy of foreigners. Our leaders should be learning lessons from China, but are so focused on the wrong things.

True talk! You know the real facts, bro.' Since we don't have the infrastructure as well as the funding to carry out the project on our own, we have to take what we can get. sad

Buhari is working. As a matter of Fact, His strict Policy is ensuring finance are being accounted for. But He could do better. By the time Politician know that its a 100% all to themselves, they will start sitting up and doing the right thing.

Sadly you're right. The belt and road isn't good though because loans from other sources are not only cheaper but they don't insist you use their companies. Even if we contracted European companies to design the rails we could use Nigerians to build them whereas China insists on using many of its own workers. Unfortunately they're the only ones willing to give us loans.

Very true
