Diuof had been signed way before the ACN . . . he only got his work permit in that January period or just before.

Countries that qualified for the 2010 Cup of Nations did so well before Jan 2010. So it is highly probable that Sir Alex knew Senegal's fate before signing Diouf. We will talk about Senegal and 2012 when we get there.

While you are all talking about Mame Diouf and Man Utd, here's his record there:

Man Utd
Apps As sub Goals Yellow Red
Total (Club) 0 (0) 0 0 0
League 0 (0) 0 0 0
FA Cup 0 (0) 0 0 0
League Cup 0 (0) 0 0 0
European/Others 0 (0) 0 0 0

Yes, you read it correctly. He has played a total of zero games for Man U.

FFS, get your stats right. Diouf that has scored for Man United. You dont know zilch about footie so use your time to do something more constructive.
I rest my case totally. grin grin grin grin

You are actually correct. My statistics is not up to date.

The Senegal international (Mame Diouf) made six appearances for United last season following his arrival from Norwegian club Molde in December last year.

He netted his only United goal in January's 3-0 Premier League win over Burnley at Old Trafford.

You shd be arrested and jailed for spreading so much falsehood

Manchester United is the only team out of the top 4 that has played in Nigeria- Yes or No

at least, the man identified with the supporters down here and brought the stars to our very own stadium

and u Arrow, Mame Diouf is a Man UTD player and has scored for UTD so by that evidence, dont you think you shd shut the hell up ?

Omo gidi grin
That was the killer punch I expected Mancs to bring out.
We all saw Man u 'live and direct' in Abuja.
They all risked coming to Africa.
They had to take painful anti-malaria injections before coming over.
What more love for Africans could have been shown?
None of the other remaining 'so called big clubs' have ever thought of that.

Nobody said Sir Alex hates Nigeria or Africa. That is not the arguement. Moreover what's the point of playing an exhibition game in a continent whose players you have decided not to sign. If I may ask, at that exhibition game, how many Nigerians or Africans featured for Man U?

What an embarrasing car crash of a thread.

Another thing i don't understand is why is it that we very religious nigerians support a team who's nickname is the red devils

Since I've been gone,I can see this Hi-Tek Mehala man is still hell-bent on showcasing his ignorance for all to see.
Don't know what is so hi-tech about a fellow who doesn't know the difference between a player who is loaned to and signed by a club.No wonder he doesn't make any sense with his paralympic logic.
Nice one Tkb.If that fellow with sour-milk acting as brain cells shows up again, then I'll know all hope is lost for his redemption.
The guy is a consumate idiot.

@Starboard

While I don't necessarily support this chap's sentiment, he really is entitled to his opinion just as the British media and people who should be wiser continually spread lies about Arsene only buying french players when it is clearly an untruth.
Bros, when his opinion is highly skewed and flawed,he shouldn't be allowed to air anything.Your opinion should be backed by facts, and from the above posts,it is obvious the fellow has nothing in defence of his ludicrous claim, aside from misplaced Pan-African lingoism. He sounds like a palm-wine tapper, really, the way he brings Mehala into this argument.Let him take his old-school logic back to Enugu and discuss with civil war veterans instead of providing unwanted comic relief.
Re: Stop Supporting Man Utd. by HiTek1: 4:01am On Nov 13, 2010
@ Starboard,

Do you have the capacity to post a reply without resorting to insults. Each time you are confronted with facts, you try to change the subject. You accused me of being new to football. I then informed you that I actually watched the Rangers/Mehala match in 75/76. Now you are calling me old school. That is a tacit admission of defeat on your part.

Yesterday was a public holiday in the US. They marked veterans day during which they honour all their veterans of war. It is regrettable that you seem to have little regard for our own veterans. No matter what you think of the defunct Biafra, you should not make light reference to the veterans of that war.

This is where our conversation ends. I will absolutely ignore whatever you say from here on.

Hi-Tek,
The better you shut your mouth on this issue, the better for you an us all, really. You have been an embarrasing joke to other Nairaland sports section users with this thread. You offer nothing by way of constructive arguments based on facts.
It's you who has refused to acknowledge that Ferguson has signed African players in the past.
It's you that doesn't have your facts correct when you said Blackburn signed Mame Diouf (a Senegalese) instead of Man United as recently as January 2010,negating whatever codswallop you've been throwing around.
It's you who has been throwing around dud facts by saying the same Diouf hasn't played a single game for United.
It's you who refused to note that Fergie brought United to Abuja,as a mark of honour for all United fans in Nigeria,as against the other 19 EPL clubs full of Africans who don't even appreciate their players enough to bring them home to Africa.
Instead you base your position on frivolous,non-football issues such as the number of artisans and architectural firms who helped building their "mansions" as if it had anything to do with football in itself.
Bro,just shut the hell-up and go relive your Mehala tales with your fellow veterans. They are waiting for you in Enugu.
Admitting defeat?Nah,oga.I only made you know that you know nothing about modern-day football. If it were Mehala vs Rangers,I would defer attention to you since you seem to be the spcialist in that particular tie, giving us details as regards post-match hairstyles.
You ain't nothing but a loud barrell with nothing inside.Show me where i attempted to change a subject throughout this discussion and I will agree that you have some sense in you.
