It is written in plain and clear terms that the addition will be an increment to your consolidated salary. i.e CONPSS, CONMESS, CONRAISS e.t.c What is consolidated salary (in Nigeria)? It is your basic salary + other allowances (meal, transport, hazard e.t.c) compressed into one. I hope this clears the air

Exactly, I don't know where the calculations using gross pay is coming from.

LargeBreed:
please this is very wrong. It is % increase in your salary and not the minimum wage. Eg if you are on level 8 and your salary is 56,000, your new salary will be:
20/100*56,000
ie 0.2*56,000=11,200
56,000+11,200=67,200
New salary is 67,200.
Please if you ain't a mathematician, economist or accountant, do not post misleading calculations.

U're sound.

You are right about the calculations but wrong about the salaries, a level 9 federal workers gets around 80k-90k
It depends on the federal agency u work with. Even level 8 staff in my agency earn above 95k.

Consequential adjustment of wages are done relatively. That is why we termed it in accounting WAGES RELATIVITY.
You can never plan and consequentially adjust a level two grade without taking cognizance of level one. It's a build up as it well.
Firstly, what people earn from the old salary table of 18k minimum wage is not even used as a benchmark of the calculation of the new wage, otherwise a level 6 officer would have earned more than a level 7 officer from the current percentage adjustment. One cannot even start calculating from level 7, you need to start from level one and build the rest up consequentially.
I will be more elaborate as I break it down soon. keep calm

well you maybe correct, depending on the step attained with the grade level, a level 7 step 7 office may earn the same as a level 9 step 1.

I don't really have the federal government old salary structure but my assumption is base on friends gross pay.

so if the person on grade 8 is collectin 70k so like 5k or so would be added to the person?

There will be a new salary structure for the new pay. The 30k is basic salary GL1, step 1. It does not include allowances. That was how the 18k was done.

The percentages released for the consequential adjustment is for basic only. The allowances has not been worked out.

So, from what Dsourcee said above. Grade level 8's basic will be 36,000. When the allowances will be worked out, we will know the take home pay for gl8.

For now, you can't know the formula they will use to work out the allowances. Unless anyone here knows. I don't.

Edo State would cut short workers pay again and say they pay more.
But I trust Obaseki; he is more worker friendly and more humane than previous government.
In the old scheme, a level 16 step 9 officer receives 174k per month. And that's his take-home pay!

How much would NYSCorp members take home since we're not on Federal Government salary scale
As you rightly said, corps members are not on Salary scale, so what you get paid is simply stipends not wages/salary which the government can decide to increase or reduce at will. So for now, the 19k800 still suffice unless the FG decides to be magnanimous and increase it.

This is not correct. FG can't initially propose 10k increment across board for level 7 and above which was strongly rejected by labour, only for them to settle for an amount lower than the 10k FG initially proposed

The above calculation is very wrong and should be ignored.

At OP, there is nothing like calculating the new wage based on basic salary. Federal salary, at least, for those of us on CONPSS is consolidated. Whatever percentage increase will be calculated based on your current gross consolidated salary.

OK bro. I'm on contiss and needed to know whether the increment is on gross or basic pay. I have gotten the right info now. Thanks

I am an auditor in a federal college of education in the southwest and I can authoritatively say that the percentage is on consolidated salary and not on basic salary. The new salary structure released from NSIWC for staff on level 1-6 around May this year clearly shows that. The figure on GL 1 Step 1 moved from 18k plus to 30k600 naira or thereabout.etc. That is about 66.67 %increment. So if you are not well informed, don't come here to misinform others.

Thanks for the heads up.

On another note, can you help with a template of salaries of civil servants on contiss level 7 and above (university non academic)? Need to clarify something

roman1755:
The standard of education in Nigeria has really gone down. I am alarmingly ashamed of what people are commenting on here. Even some of the calculations here are nothing short of hilarious. If your consolidated salary is 119355k, and you are on 16%increment, your new salary becomes 119,355k*1.16=138,451.8k.or 119,355k*16%=19,096.8+119355k=138,451.8

That's a bit harsh bro. I created this thread because I didn't see where clarifications were made on how the new minimum wage will be calculated either by labour or FG. The post about the agreement by labour and FG on Nairaland and other news media was not specific on the question I raised on this thread, hence, the need to get more insights from others who might be privy to such information.

Calculating percentages has never been the problem. Especially for a former banker. Have a good day
