I have been wondering about these things for ages and have decided once before that the answers may not really matter. But the doggone questions still come back to me. I wanna hear other people's views. I'd appreciate it very much if only opinions are given and no scripture is quoted or even alluded to.

1. Can God read our minds? Does He know what we think and conceal in our hearts?

2. Does He judge us on these thoughts? Is there such a thing as an unclean thought?

3. Is God truly omniscient?

4. If so, does He merely know or can He change whole courses of events?

every thought, every feeling, every word and every action is known to It. we are naked before It.

no.
but your thought comes back to you as an effect.

yes
there are 2 types of thought. the first one are uplifting thoughts that take you closer to God. that is positive thoughts. thoughts of love and selflessness
and then you have negative thoughts that close the inner channels to God. thoughts of selfishness, greed, lust , pride, anger , envy, intolerance etc.

3. Is God truly omniscient?

yes.
and so we are too. it is a lack of spiritual maturity and the dense matter in which soul is embedded that shields us from knowing who we really are and what we are capable of.

4. If so, does He merely know or can He change whole courses of events?

God created the universes as a school for us souls. he then gave us free will to learn at our own time and pace. It sits back and watches Its creation at play.

events are put into motion by our thoughts, feelings, words and actions. what we put into life is what life simply returns to us over and over again.

the only time God intervenes in the life of soul is when a certain soul has achieved some measure of spiritual maturity and learnt the lessons it needs to learn then that particular soul may not need to go through some very difficult situations it may have created in the past through ignorance of the laws of life.

I think this is like asking if the author of a work of fiction knows all the characters and their capabilities and all that they think of and will think of in the book, that will make the storyline go along just as it is doing.

Maybe the only difference here is that the fictional work is dynamic, gradually expanding (at least to us. It is finite with God).

The answer to everything in the OP is Yes. As for the #4, I still say Yes because the question is CAN he, and not WILL he. Yes He CAN.

Further, I wish to clarify something about my answer to Question 2.

Does God JUDGE us based on thoughts that we have?

I say yes, but if you disagree maybe you need to see how I understand judgment.

Judgment is WHATEVER comes to you as an upshot of a choice or decision or the lack thereof.

If you cross a busy 4-lane express-road with a blindfold on your eyes, the judgment is that you will be knocked down, though you may not die.

If you have an exam in Russian tomorrow and you don't even know the Russian alphabet and you refuse to study for the exam, the judgment is that you will fail. (Mercy can't even intervene for you because you don't know the alphabet).

Similarly, judgment comes to each and every man. Oftentimes pre-established by spiritual and physical laws that God had set in motion long ago, but sometimes directly expressed by God Himself.

Yes, we are judged for every thought that we have.

InesQor. In other words you think God in essence does our thinking for us? Cuz that's what your analogy suggests. I think maybe you meant God was like an all powerful Oracle in The Matrix. As far as info is concerned anyways. Pretty standard fare, I'd say. And the question was indeed CAN and not WILL.

I find it hard to understand your view of judgement o. Once it looks like an appraisal given certain information. Later it looks like karma resultant from God's machinations. Perhaps you mean both.

In any case, I didn't mean judgement in terms of direct consequence of our thoughts. I meant it more like the appraisal part of your understanding. When dealing with God, can we be our hair, so to speak.

I'm interested in how God's judgement visits us. Is it on earth or later or in both times? Can he make one happy or miserable vicariously as in through the joy or distress of someone else? Etc. Things like that.

I didnt say God does the thinking for us.

He created us, and with each individual person who finds him/herself in a particular enabling environment and is by default subject to particular experiences, the person's character is formed either with the permission or negligence of the WILL of the person.

Let me give you an example. I love the story behind the Prison Break series. If you are familiar with it, you will follow my drift. Three characters: Michael Scofield - genius, pacifist, always ready to help; Lincoln "The Sink" Burrows - hardy, loyal, heavily-opinionated, juggernaut; Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell - sly, opportunist, mercurial, almost no scruples. Those are BASIC characters. However, the author need not "think" for each character because in many cases, viewers can almost CERTAINLY predict exactly what each person will do in the circumstance because we are given x-ray vision into their lives. Back up a bit and magnify that to the scale where we KNOW each and every possibility and the choices and decisions that each character compared with their characters. Then you may have a close idea to what Im describing. God does not THINK FOR ALL OF US.

Unfortunately my description will at best be very weak because I cannot adequately describe my understanding of God's processes using anthropocentric standards.

As for judgment, the so-called "karma" is, itself, also an appraisal. Whether you consciously think of it or not, you are being appraised.

Appraisals always have a set time and a domain in which they are carried out. There are earth-bound appraisals and heaven-bound ones. Ta da.

I think it was Adyashanti who said that we are all looking for God with it's eyes. God is within each and everyone of us. I think that should answer all of your questions.
