The police have rescued Assistant Commissioner of Police, Musa Rabo, who was abducted along Barde-Jos road by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday.

Rabo was rescued unhurt on Sunday by a combined team of police operatives from Kaduna, Niger and Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, backed by members of the elite police special forces.

The force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, said two male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Rabo, who is the Suleja Area Commander in Niger State, was kidnapped while traveling alone in his car in mufti.

His abductors were said to have demanded N50million ransom.

Mba had described Rabo’s abduction as an opportunistic crime.

He said, “Rabo was traveling in his civil dress in his private car and without escort or any security at the time of the incident. He was not targeted as a cop, it was purely an opportunistic crime maliciously targeted at citizens using that particular road.”

Sometimes I wonder in the 21st century, kidnapping for ransom still thrives in a country like Nigeria and the security chiefs are not embarrassed,
1. Kidnappers use cellphones that can easily be traced
2. Kidnappers have huge sums of money in their bank accounts that could easily raise suspicion.
3. Kidnappers keep their victims in certain communities, why can't the leaders of these host communities be held accountable?
Kidnapping is now the unemployed youths past time because of failed leaders.

1.You don't have to use your own cellphone if you are a kidnapper. Plus...there are all these 'pre-registered phone scams' things

that was the exact spot our bus traveling to Jos was robbed,I had to excape by distracting them that there was cash in my bag in the booth,the fate of the rest of the passengers unknown till now,that place is a terrible place to pass especially at night, though I had injuries when one use a machete on me,I ran to that army checkpoint for help,they did their best but the bandits has find their way into the bus and they were on army uniforms with AK 47,sticks and knifes,commuters should be mindful of that road,no security in the land.

Good for him, but let them be as efficient as this in all cases.

In as much I don't like naija, can we be reasonable Dor once? He was kidnapped while on his personal car without any security detail at all. He was traveling like a normal Nigerian on the high way. The kidnappers thought he was the normal Nigerian they kidnapped. If he was with his official convoy and team, he wouldn't have been kidnapped. I'm sure when the kidnappers found out who he was, they had to do the needful.
