What if we exterminate all mosquitoes in the planet? Is that a great idea?
Maybe, that might sound great but trust me scientists don’t wanna do that, though they can do that by breeding genetically engineered male Mosquitoes that will produce sterile offsprings and then make sure all mosquitoes will be gone in few years. Let me tell you why they won’t do that.
Have you ever asked yourself the function of Mosquitoes in the ecosystem? If No, I will tell you.
1. We have thousands of Mosquito species but only 6 of them infect humans with diseases, the rest of them are herbivores and plant pollinators. Yes, they are but that’s not why scientists won’t kill them. Other insects can efficiently do this job.
2. They serve as food for many animals in the ecosystem but this is still not the reason why we won’t kill them all. Other animals can efficiently serve this role.

Then why won’t we kill all mosquitoes...?
3. Mosquitoes are the deadliest animals to humans on earth and they are estimated to kill about 725,000 humans every year. The fast increase in humans population is a threat to the health of the planet. If we allow humans population increase too fast, we will destroy everything in no time via rapid urbanization, increase the rate of global warming and leaving the planet almost lifeless. And yes, it’s the Job of Mosquitoes to help keep that in check.

Yeah, sounds cruel but that’s how science work. It shouldn’t just be about saving the human race. Other species also matter. so sorry, we won’t allow all mosquitoes die. We can’t have humans destroy everything in no time.
