INEC had declared Nyesom Wike Winner of the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State in what many had interpreted as controversial, in which the candidate of the AAC Mr. Awara approached the court to challenge the declaration of Nyesom Wike as Winner of the election up-to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Friday held that there was no need for the Court of appeal to have ordered the lower Tribunal to continue with the hearing of the Awara petition in the first place
