One of the exciting and outstanding features of the latest Pixel 4 series is the Astrophotography mode addition.

With this technology, you have the ability to take night scapes with impressive detail, including stars. A very big credit to the developer community at XDA-Developers, even those who have older Pixel phones will now be able to use the same technology in combination of the Super Res Zoom feature that was released last year with the Pixel 3.

According to an update released recently, the Google Camera Mod 7.2 brings also support for Astrophotography and Super Res Zoom to the Pixel and Pixel 2.

GCam which is a community that have developed app that ports features for the newer Pixels to older Google Pixels with ability to support a bunch of other non-Pixel devices as well.

The XDA-Developers reports that Super Res Zoom is Google’s software approach for taking pictures from far away. It has the capabilities to stack multiple images and produce a better image than simply cropping it from the sensor. The report added that the feature was introduced on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, so it is a good news to understand that older Pixel users can also try it out this feature.

The report further stated that for you to use Astrophotography, all you need to do is just switch to Night Sight. Once in a solid position or mounted to a tripod, the camera will automatically switch to Astrophotography mode. When you tap the shutter button, it can take anywhere from 1 to 4 minutes to fully capture.

This feature, the 'Astrophotography' was enabled for the Pixel 3 and 3a with the Google Camera Mod version 7.1.
