The Female Founder Accelerator is a 12-month program designed to identify, support and fund the next generation of Africa’s female entrepreneurs. The program is aimed at further entrenching entrepreneurship in Africa by supporting female entrepreneurs for 12 months, within which period they would have stabilized their businesses on the path of growth.

The Accelerator program is designed to support female small business owners through Training, Mentorship, Grants, and Funding in a 12-month hands-on Program. The program is a business plan competition where female small business owners complete a business plan form and are shortlisted if successful.

This year event will shortlist 30 female small business owners for the 12-month business support event, with the top 4 business plans winning a grant of ₦250,000 each.

Successful candidates will be presented at The Female Founders Forum event on 16/11/2019 to commemorate the international Annual Woman entrepreneurship day.

Objectives:
1. The primary objective of the 12-month program is to empower the next generation of female entrepreneurs.
2. We are aimed at entrenching entrepreneurship in Africa by helping small-scale female business owners succeed in their business ventures.
3. We want to train them, mentor them, help them source finances and where possible, investments for their businesses.
4. We want to create a platform that will serve as a springboard for the small-scale female business owners in Nigeria.

The Female Founders Forum is an initiative of Metrowoman Africa in conjunction with CreditPro Business Support Services Ltd. and Soar &Heritage, an SME focussed business training platform.

Duration of Program: 12 months.

How it will work:
•Qualified female business owners apply by completing the business plan form online
•Our Business Plan Review Panel shortlists the business plans that meet set criteria
•Shortlisted candidates are interviewed through telephone
•30 successful candidates are shortlisted and contacted.
•Successful candidates are announced at the Founders’ Forum event
•Top 4 candidates are awarded a grant of =N=250,000 each at the event
•30 candidates go through the mentorship and training program for 12 months after the event.

Eligibility:
Business must be in the following sectors:
i) Hair and Beauty
ii) Food and drinks
iii) Fashion and design

Years in operations: Not more than 2 years.
Business revenue: N0m to N10m per annum
Applicant’s age: 18 – 35 years old.
Business must have been registered with CAC at the point of application
Start-ups are encouraged to apply.
