Kevin Moody, a roofer from Ellesmere Port, has recently cleared out his ‘man draw’ looking for a key to the shed when he stumbled upon his old Nokia 3310 mobile phone. The phone was still switched on, and had been forgotten about for 20 years.

Incredibly the phone still had just over 70% battery remaining. Kevin remarked how he didn’t ever remember charging the mobile, or even owning a charger.

Today’s mobile phones, such as iPhones, have an average battery life of around 17 minutes and require plugging in throughout the day in order to have enough power for the bus or train ride home. The Nokia 3310, however, never required charging.

People always forget something important when commenting about this long lasting battery issue.
The phones then were basically made for just calls and SMS.
Their basic functionallity was so simple unlike today you have smart phones that multi task so many functions.

You play HD internet connected game while video calling over the internet, you can watch binge watch HD movies and browse etc.
these are all battery sapping functions which the Nokia phones didn't have hence the longer lasting batteries.

A smart phone battery can go a full month without dying if it's used only for calls too and nothing else.

Nokia 3310 was produced in 2000 that's 19 years ago. And is it possible to keep a phone in recent phone like the latest I phone in a drawer without touching it and no one finding out. Even if there is no sim card that phone can't last 20 yrs. Something is fishy

what you have said earlier may be true but even in idle mode some other things consume power in smartphone unlike the 3310.
