Twitter influencers with millions of followers would still be allowed to make political posts and promote candidates. That’s a loophole they should have blocked if they want this policy to be very successful. Politicians are smart and desperate to reach their targeted audience. If I want to pass a certain political message, I will simply pay a popular influencer to pass the message. Twitter will only end up losing revenue with this policy.

Twitter influencers do earn their reach.

Twitter is taking action against politicians buying millions of targeted reach without earning them. What that means is that I do not need to follow anyone before the political ad will be put on my face. But in the case you're positing, I consciously follow the influencer to get his updates. That's the influencer earning his reach on me.

I understand Jack’s post perfectly. Twitter is only trying to play safe here while losing revenue in between. If a politician cannot buy targeted ads directly from twitter to reach a particular audience, he could easily pay an influencer that can reach the targeted audience to pass his political message.

See one human already mentioning Buhari below you. cheesy

Not surprised though, I pretty much expect their attacks on him to quadruple over the coming days due to their principal's failure to cum.

I hope they also take steps over the propagation of hate by nonentities like ffk, Reno and junaid Mohammed.

They can’t do without mentioning Buhari. They see him everywhere they go.

You have a good point.

Well, if a problem cannot be solved totally, minimizing it is appreciated.

As time goes on though, they may also look into regulating the influencers. But remember, the influencers are not officially recognized by Twitter. They are seen as individuals having a large pull of followers. Their posts may be taken as their own personal views especially if they do not reveal that it's sponsored, and the law of Freedom of Information and that of Expression are still very much active.

Obviously, they knew they'd lose revenue even before taking the decision or you think their analysts are all dumb? The revenue they'd lose must have been accepted as an opportunity cost for the reputation they strive to build which is a non-cash form of asset as well.

They might be loopholes but that does not undermine the efforts they are making; it's one step at a time.

Great move, but this won't stop people or even influencers from speaking about their preferred candidates and their ideas and policies, and one thing that's certain about twitter is that certain accounts command a large number of followership and loyalty. Such accounts can still in one way or the other influence the perception and ideologies of their followers.

The major problem with us Nigerians is that, we place high premium on money, but less on morality! Sorry for spoiling your day, bro!

The only reason they are doing this is because the US law forbids the media to cherry pick political ads. And since Trump campaign has more money than all the other Democrat campaigns combined, Trump is unstoppable.

In fact Trump's campaign manager boasted a few days ago about their intent to use new tech ("that Pelosi doesn't even understand" ), a ton of user data, and 100s of millions of dollars to turn voters out in support of Trump even in Dem strong holds.

I personally believe that this is Mr. Jack's knee jerk reaction to stop Trump campaign. And I expect Facebook and others to follow suit in the coming days or months. They are that desperate. But they will all fail.

do you understand english

you can not do any political ads on twitter whether through influencers or not

your account will be deactivated

which revenue are they losing, do you think they will just ban poltical ad without doing any analysis

baning political ads means the money they get is not much, it was half of their revenue, they wouldnt have ban it.
It is very ironical when people deridingly brand others what they're. for instance, you saying that he don't understand English.
what do you understand by this speech from tweeter CEO
A political message earns reach when people decide to follow an account or retweet.
I guess ghost will post the political message before people will follow and retweet.
Come down from your high horse and learn simple compression, and stop jumping on people mention to yap hogwash you know nothing about, Mr over sabi.

seunmsg, discountenance this charlatan's reasonless rebuttal.
