Dr Oluwatoyin Smith, the National Coordinator, National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) emphasised the importance of regular blood donation, saying it reduces the risk of heart attack and burns calories.
She told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that blood donation has many health benefits and
encouraged citizens to cultivate the habit at regular intervals.

Insecurity: Gani Adams Faults South-West Govs On Recruitment Of Private Security

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, has berated some South-west governors for their alleged plan to recruit their surrogates to form state security apparatus in the region.

He said such purported move would not improve security situation in the region.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State capital during a sensitisation programme on security for members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Adams condemned the move, describing it as unacceptable.

OML 25: Host Communities Tackle Wike

The crisis rocking Oil Mining Lease (OML) 25 in Kula Kingdom, Abonemma Local Government Area is yet to abate as the host communities have declared that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, lacks the powers to call for a stakeholders’ meeting as that area has been ceded to Bayelsa State.
This is as the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) also faulted Wike’s decision to organise a stakeholders’ meeting for OML-25, urging the governor to concentrate on things that would bring peace to the state

Rice Farmers Want CBN To Reschedule Loan Repayment Plan

Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), has appealed to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to reschedule its loan repayment plan for rice farmers in Adamawa following recent flooding, which ravaged rice farms in the state.

The state’s RIFAN Chairman, Mr Stephen Maduwa made the appeal in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Thursday in Yola.
Maduwa said the appeal became necessary because many of the rice farmers were beneficiaries of the CBN Anchor Borrowers’ scheme and were expected to repay their loan soon.
