What Has The Successive Nigerian Government Done For the Ordinary Man? by OVIHINNO(m): 8:15pm On Oct 31, 2019
It amuses me whenever I hear successive government reel out budgetary figures yearly without commensurate verifiable achievements. I honestly imagine if they came to power to serve the common man or themselves and their cronies. The average Nigerian is been hounded daily by government's ineptitude. They are been milked daily directly or indirectly (most times unknowingly to the victims-Nigerians) without commensurate service delivery. The ordinary Nigerian provides his own security through paid vigilante, provide electricity for his household, provide his own water(even made to pay for providing borehole for his family in some states), even made to pay for repairs of the road in his street, He pays for services like drivers license and it take almost a year to get it, He pays for the Nigerian Passport and they tell him no Passport booklets for months and the list goes on. And these same services are been conveniently enjoyed by the political class without having to pay for them? They make BOGUS & RIDICULOUS provisions for their entire life for themselves after just serving for either 4 or 8 years. What does the ordinary Man get? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
One can only imagine the state of the Nigeria roads at the moment. What about electricity? Or is it the state of security? Nothing exactly has worked in Nigeria for the last 30years to say the least. Why don't our leaders ask our neighboring African countries how they have been able to manage Thiers. I have always been an optimist but with this rate of degradation I am constrained to give up on My Beloved Country NIGERIA.
From a Frustrated Nigerian

What does the ordinary Nigerian man do for Nigeria?
You talking of the budget as if that's anything.Do you think we are going to go anywhere with that joke we call a budget for a nation of 200 million undecided
The countries you all admire are run by taxes.A sizable percentage of their gdp is taxed out, unlike what we have here.
We competing with same budget with countries like morroco that has a population of 30million.

Absolutely nothing. Let's even forget basic amenities and infrastructure.

I mean, fundamental equality of opportunity where citizens are given the chance to prove themselves and get ahead based on merit, ZERO. As it is, the entire government apparatus at all levels, from federal to local governments, is populated by incompetent idiots selected via nepotism and corruption.

Besides, Economic opportunities are rationed according to the same principles of nepotism, cronyism, and so forth... Effectively shutting out the ordinary man and ensuring that he can only achieve a decent life through extreme luck, extreme acumen, or extreme criminality.

Then you can now add the miserable living conditions across board... Zero security, zero infrastructure, zero rule of law, absolutely zero quality of life.

The question is what do we want from our government? Do we want a government that favors an islamic population, that favors indolence and laziness in its people, that is ok with illiteracy in its people, a true islamic country with poverty, backwardness and misogyny or a dynamic secular government that helps develop Nigeria and the black man to its full potential. A government that builds schools, roads, provides security. This is why Nigeria should split. The present government is for cows and Fulani cowherders.

Are jobless people supposed to be taxed before
According to the stats we have less than 200 people who pay more than 20 million naira as tax,a lot of people get away with tax evasion. And there is something called tax to gdp ratio, given a gdp of 400billion dollars we ought to be generating way more revenues.

If Nigeria splits the South will most likely remain almost the same.Last time I checked the SE has amongst the lowest IGR.We are all still dependent on oil money from the ND.Both the North and the South.

For those asking useless questions that what has the ordinary man done for Nigeria, let me list.
The ordinary man that hawk even pure water pays tax to Nig govt. Now you can't blame him if the money does not reflect in govt books.

He tolerates the uselessness of subsequent govt.

I will be back to continue
